Speaking of undergaurd weirdness, my 70's Musicmaster had turned the finish green under the guard. This is a photo of an old photo of it when I'd put an earlier (nicer shaped) Oick guard on it. You can see the green at the top in the shape of the old guard. This is the one that had the 'A' neck.

oops, i forgot, i bought a repro bridge cover for vanity purposes. i do have a white tipped vibrato bar somewhere but i can't find it. the guard warping is bothering me less but it still has to go...

I'm having a drool-fest here! I love when the old clearcoat starts to green up a bit, I've seen a LPB Jag before that was blue if you looked at it in some lights and halfway to Ocean turq in others. Scrumptious.

honestly, you wait 3 years for a blue competition mustang and two come along at once...

linketh

looks to be in similar, if mildly better, condition as mine (apart from the guard  ). his serial number is 330676, mine's 373559. mine was £350/$550 cheaper though. yuss!

i was bidding on a vintage guard to replace this one but the way the dollar/pound ratio is at the moment things are starting to get expensive and it was getting out of hand, so i think i'll have to wait a while. i want one that isn't all cracked and knackered, i suppose i'll just have to be patient.

finally got the replacement guard and fitted it after some customs/post office shenanigans (the sender will be receiving a stiff email from me pointing out his fuckwittery) and i'm v. pleased. a nice flat scratchplate, yippee! it's from a '65, so the pearloid is markedly different, and i had to file a millimeter or so off the upper neck pocket bit to get it to fit, but fit it does...

a couple of crappy pictures, but it's dark...

compared to the old one i think it's a vast improvement.

i was tempted to say "i'll swap you for your vintage jag", but then i realised if you accepted i'd have half of shortscale after my blood... haha.
