Marshall 6100 - £450
Marshall JCM800 - £550
Marshall 1936 2x12" - £140
Marshall JCM800 1960A 4x12" - £140
Orange Tiny Terror - £200
Fender Jaguar - £350
Fender Baja Telecaster - £280
EHX DMM - £130
I think that's pretty much everything. I don't really hoard stuff, and I have to sell to buy generally

I was being a bit cheeky with some of the numbers, and putting things like the Bassman at the high end of the value.
I should probably go for a massive down-size at some point but it's too hard to decide which stuff should go. Everything is sort of on hold for the rob(og) custom (I need to get a proper name for that). Depending on how that works with everything I might just sell the Mustang and other bits and cut right down.
I'd consider something like a 50w Hiwatt head and using the cab I already have. I imagine the cab isn't really worth anything and it sounds good so I may as well keep it.

If you're talking a Non Master Volume amp like that, then 50W vs. 100W means dick all. It's still crushingly loud and you won't get grit until the levels I was playing at in the shop. People use hotplates on amps like those if they want Overdrive. Or pedals, obviously.

See, I know this, but I have no trouble in convincing myself that 50w is much more sensible and that's ok it have a ridiculously over-powered amp in my bedroom. Whenever the accuracy of that comes into question I just tell myself 'ah, don't even consider it. The cab is 60w so you couldn't have a 100w amp anyway. Yes, yes, 50w is much more reasonable'.

I did this as part of renewing my house contents insurance last month, but was using "what I paid for", or "cost to replace new", and it is scary. Over £8k...
I think about getting rid of some stuff, but all of that I use regularly, so that's how I justify it to myself.

i shudder to think what the value of all my gear would be. i should really count it up in case of a fire or something. even just getting the bus to rehearsal i've got about £1500 worth of stuff on me. do not want mugged.

I think my contents insurance in 20k. I certainly know it is more than the cost of stuff I own.

Talking nerdy guitar stuff is one of the best things about Doogfest. I'm lucky now that Doog lives nearby that I can bore him senseless every few weeks.

Benecol - I've seen what you have said about doogfest and the possibilities of you going, but as someone who doesn't particularly like meeting "strangers" on their own, I can categorically say that a friendlier, more welcoming bunch of people you can not wish for.

I know no-one wants to hear someone tell them "THIS IS HOW YOU SOLVE YOUR PROBLEMS, RIGHT..", but I was fairly agoraphobic for a period in my life, and have dealt with panic attacks and anxiety for ages.
With panic attack issues, if you're constantly telling yourself "if I go somewhere else, I will panic", you will. Thats pretty good going Mike considering how serious you are about music, like i've said before i really admire you for having a neat collection of gear.
Im afraid i also agree with James saying "its a disease", i got rid of a lot of stuff at the end of last year but at this point it seems to have doubled beyond a joke. I think i am becoming a hoarder.

I do the same thing: I have to sell to buy, but due to some canny purchases when the pound was strong, I've managed to gradually build up my kit. I've got one guitar with a trem, one without, and one baritone, and they all get played, so I don't feel guilty. And just the one nice, but not OTT, amp.
And then the washing basket behind the sofa full of pedals, of course.
Oh and thanks, Doog. Doing that sort of thing anyhow, albeit in a very lazy way.

Didn't wanna be an arse about it- I know how shit all that stuff is. But sometimes you just need a nudge to remind you how ridiculous it all is.
