I agree with you Hurb, I also think that the people who would ever conceive of buying these pedals in the first place are the same type of people that would be snobbish about the appearance and "cred" of the Behringer and Danelectro copies. I seriously doubt any potential customers are actually buying the cheaper clones - a lot of them will think that the bypass will be shit or be snobs about SMD.

I think Behringer are great for the beginner - you could not get a board of cool sounding pedals for less than £100 when I was learning guitar, and for people who aren't taken in by hype.

They reversed a few of them and were quite rude also. I had to set them straight a bit.

What were they saying about it all?

Look at the threads yourself you lazy fuckwit.

Just snobbishness about design and build quality. Stuff about the insulation tape and things like transistors not being biased correctly, I was like "Aen makes pedals people love, he must be doing something right".

aen and freestompboxes.org go together like chalk and cheese, they're always going to miss the point entirely.

Ask them about Part Ex on the Vintage/Modern head on behalf of Rob. He has a Fender Blues Deville combo in good nick. Just see if they'd be interested, like.
Roger that.
Mike and Benecol FTW. Thanks guys, it's a blues deluxe re-issue, all original with footswitch etc.

on the timmy front, mike's timmy clone is a very good pedal. i still get confused the way the tone controls work, as they work backwards and lower the gain.

I'm at work and can't.

Well the eBay thing is hype, and wasn't there like a huge waiting list. I wasn't talking about the guy specifically.

I think Paul Cochrane has something like a 4-6 week wait on the Tim and Timmy pedals, not bad considering he builds every one by hand on stripboard or perfboard. I think that personal touch and the casing is a big deal to a lot of people.

I think Klon is 12 weeks, but Analogman takes the biscuit on the "King Of Tone" - 2 years you have to wait for:

Two Marshall BB-1 Bluesbreakers in the same box with switchable diode clipping.

Genuis Marketing, that one.

Also it doesn't look like Analogman is hurting in sales!

I find the Boutique Tone Guru thing ridiculous. But I also find a lot of freestompboxes.org to be also ridiculous. You can give two builders the exact same schematic, and have two different sounding pedals. Look at the fuzz face for example. there are a lot of production fuzz faces and ff derivatives that suck completely.

So, it's just a fuzz face schematic :x angry rage, doesn't really tell you in the end what it sounds like.

I completely agree. I use it as a resource, but after spending a bit of time there I really don't like the constantly negative attitude towards EVERYTHING. I think a lot of them are quite bitter, they clearly have skills but for some reason resent people building for profit - I say just do it if you want to, anyone of those guys could make and market a pedal, there's nothing really wrong with it. They bitched out the Superfuzz clone you inspired Mewithoutus and his buddy to make because it uses wax ties to tie the cables together nicely. I mean, I'm no fan of the guy but that's a personality thing, you can't argue that their build is not a well exercised one, it looks very solid indeed.

There's a few cool cats, this guy Graemy who makes youtube demos of his rare stuff (Lovetone etc) makes pedals like I do from their schematics and stuff, and Torchy, this guy who makes veroboard layouts is sound. There are loads of people with amazing skills and electronics chops there but a lot of "screaming masses" types who just like to post indignance.

Also not everyone wants to build pedals. I love fuzz pedals and I find it interesting to know what makes them work, but at the same time the effort vs. price in building them is not worth it to me. I would rather buy a well made pedal at a good price and play it. That's more enjoyable for me right now.

So there was nothing wrong with Mewithoutus producing that Superfuzz, cause loads of people want that style of fuzz, but don't want to bother making it. Although I will say they raised the price to close to $200 now, and to me that's too much.

The threads on there are hilarious. They really took the piss out of both Chris and Aen, some of it was deserved but some of it was just bitter and petty.

True enough.

I really enjoy it (believe it or not it's actually really helpful to me winding down after a day's work), but it's not for everyone.

Payday instant gratification for the mother-fucking win:

Both of them for £56 woot-woot. Also took a picture of that HiWatt we were jizzing over the other day:

... and spoke to them about the Vintage Modern; it's on for £399 Prog, and they do do trade ins - will PM you the deets.
Mike wrote:FWIW The Timmy is a tweaked Tubescreamer with added Bass and Treble cut controls, and asymmetrical clipping (like the SD-1) which can be switched in and out using DIP switches.
Apparently, these dip switches are the only difference - they're not on the Dano. Good to hear you mention that Graemy fella - I like his demos a lot. Geordie pedal testers ftw.

blimey i'm reading the thread over there now about TGD.

right set of bastards.

"overnight solder jockey". ARGH.
"dwarfcraft and mellowtone are just amateur hobbyists trying to cash in on fancy graphics and kooky online videos".

i'm actually quite annoyed now, although i bet aen took it all in his stride.

Nice work Tim Tim. I love that bleeding HiWatt.

Graemy is awesome, he used my Super Fuzz layout to rip off mewithoutus. I <3 him.

You cheeky sod, you knocked them down again from the £33 price mark?!

Here's Graemy's video of the SuperFuzz he made from my layout design:

Arr. Like a shameless cunt I milked the "I brought an internet celebrity to your shop"-angle. Nah, I had a chat with him, got the impression he wasn't in love with them at the weekend.

Yeah he did seem keen to move them on, and you were only too happy to oblige. Not interested in the METAL one? Roffles.

You should have pulled one of the pointy guitars down and got your Scoop On.
