Lest anyone think I got lucky for a cheap $200+ Gibbo, I was sanding in the HOLE today and realized what was probably obvious to other buyers that the nimrod who cut the hole also had to cut the internal brace that keeps the top from collapsing. At first I was dazed but after a few seconds I was like, fuck yeah. I'll do this. Fixing is fixing. I don't have Robert OG's fearlessness or skills, but I want to see it through. The top seems stable--I think being thin, mapplez, and a shortscale helped this little thing stay together. Am now thinking I will has to go red or goldtop.
Plz move to projects. I sklew up. BTW, I got my latest Reranch shipment with OPAQUE ORANGE in it. I don't know if it's Mustang-ish or Harley orange, but I DON'T CARE NEITHER. I also don't know what to put it on. Malikaster?
I was home sick today so naturally, after resting, I got together my meager tools and small brain and constructed a patch out of maple. I am going to have to go ahead with the goldtop, I'm afraid. Too much pork for just one fork. But who hasn't wanted to spray some gold now and then?
I think I am going to be able to fix up the braces inside and put an extra one at an angle under the patch. I also found a spare strip of carbon fiber that I had left over from the Rickenbacker (which was routed down into the one piece neck). Carbon fiber looks like a tiny plastic saw blade, but has the strength of steel. I will show pics once I have the patch sanded down.
All I have left to buy is the pick guard. Maybe I can do without it, although it does dress it up like a little bowtie.
Smoke green is such a beauty... That Gretsch is a beauty. And the Blue Gibson.. ah. so nice. // The guitar looks so nice.. I cant wait how will it look at the end.
