i was going to look for the older chorus pedal thread too...

(which Chorus pedal did the Cocteau Twins actually use. i initially wanted a Clone Theory cuz i read somewhere that was what they used.)
Dude The Clone Theory totally nails that early Cocteau Twins chorus sound. Just make sure you don't get the one with the flanger. I'm talking about the old ones, not the new ones. i got no experience with those. I owned like 3 units two were good and one was the crappy one with the flanger and red silk screening(rubbish).

Pete Hook of Joy Division is also a Clone Theory user. They are hissy but they sound lovely.

Haha, last time I thought about that Shootout thing, I was talking to Mike about it on the tube, trying not to be ill but still keep up my end of the conversation.

Hahaha, I know, I was like "Oh man, I'm coming off as a jerk here", but any lapse in concentration to explain the situation would have immediately made it worse..

No bother, I was conscious it was quite a nerdy conversion to be having in public

not stereo, but not a bad price for all the options you get on it. and the tone is anything but thin.

+1 on the Clone Theory.

I have one. Very nice but as stated they do hiss a bit and there's an increase in volume when you kick it in (it's counteracts the BOSS TR-2, which is shite). Very warm chorus (2 types) stereo output and vibrato to boot! Like with a lot of EHX stuff, the settings go from nice and mellow to wacked-out high-rate warble mayhem. Always a nice option to have if you're bored.

Electric Mistress. Flanger and Chorus. Well, I was doing a search on Polychorus in this forum and found this little nugget. Sensitive folk avert your eyes now:

ZING! Maybe that should be the Electric Mistress tag line.

I'd second the pitch shifter route for a good cocteaus sound, Yamaha Magicstomp or Boss SE50/70 etc can do a good job of that. Add regular chorus/flange for additional wobble and its huge.

You can do that Radio Friendly Unit Shifter thing.

That's pretty much it.

i've got an old behringer rack unit that has that effect, you could probably pick one up for about £2.49 these days.

I don't know if the new ones can do it but the old PolyChorus/Echoflanger you used to be able to jam them in between settings. One of them producing the famous guitar sound on Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love".
