Sure hope so.

It's been at the guitar shop since Wednesday and I've been antsy to get it back since Thursday.

The ants: they are intolerable.

Holy crap, that's a nice deal, plus story. I think I would have to call it The Milton Freewater guitar, or Milt for short.

That is a great score. Every once in awhile you can find these priced rediculously low.
Like the '66 i bought last year for $450.

Checked the neck, 8DEC65B 8)

I think it was a B anyway. The stamp was cut off a little at the bottom so it looked like an R but looking at this, if I cover up the bottom of the B it looks much more like what was on the neck than this.

They popped it off and the shop owner was like "we're fucking wrong man!"

Idiots strung it wrong. They didn't wrap it around the trem. I am quickly losing my faith in this place.

If I were to just string it properly myself would it fuck up the intonation?

The dude said that the trem bar was being pulled forward too much for 11's so he put on 10's, and that he'll order stronger springs to counteract the tension from 11's. But I think that if they wrap around force will tilt the trem to it's proper place. Is that correct?

That guy is a moron, first off no you won't mess up your intonation if you string it your self, 2nd off I use 11's, and my trem is perfectly fine, because, I string my mustangs correctly. So, get the mustang back, string it correctly with the strings wrapped around the bridge, and slap him in the face.

I think he's trying to make you give him money for parts you don't need (the springs) and I wouldn't be surprised if he replaces them and keeps your own (which might be worth something on ebay if they're original.

Take the guitar back and tell him it is strung up wrong. Argue this point with him until he gives you your money back or until he sets it up correctly. I think that 011's are much better on a Mustang (well, on a Jag-stang anyway) and the guitar was designed for heavier strings (009's are a modernish thing).

I think you should learn to set the guitar up yourself. If you have any problems with it there are any number of people on here who will be able to help. You are very unlikely to do damage to the guitar setting it up yourself, and knowledge of how the guitar works is useful when playing.

Stringing and setting the intonation on a Mustang is beyond easy and you'd be throwing money away paying someone to do it. I reckon the vibrato springs are probably fine and even if they aren't you could change them yourself easy.

We can teach you any of that, and then you will know how too do it. It makes playing that much sweeter, dude.

Ugh. Worst set up ever.

The bridge is so high and the saddles so far forward that the strings are touching the backs of the bridge. I strung it correctly and now the trem is being yanked so far back you can't bend it up.

Also it's very very quiet. About half as loud as my 69RI. I think it's because the pickups are very far away from the strings.

Plus it took this idiot a week to do it. I'm going to bust some chops tomorrow.

Wow, sounds horrid, I could post a pic of how my mustang's bridge is set up, if that will help. Mine was actually professionally set up, correctly.

That's okay, my other stang has a pro set up to which I can compare.

Thanks though.
