i was thinking a 60's esquire.
and maybe a 70's mustang. (i think there's one out already)

Definitely, by the by they should be improving(?) old models but from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone. Imo they should offer a Semi at the very least, i cant see how they would lose on it.Mike wrote:I think Fender are doing some good stuff. They should bring back the M-80. It's quickly become my favorite guitar in my arsenal. The neck is godly. They just need to put a normal fenderish headstock on it so the fanboys don't complain and shun it like they did with the original release.Fran wrote:Definitely, by the by they should be improving(?) old models but from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone. Either the Starcaster or Coronado would sell massively as a reissue.Fran wrote:Definitely, by the by they should be improving(?) old models but from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone. this, plus the bass vi as a decently priced reissue.Mike wrote:Either the Starcaster or Coronado would sell massively as a reissue.Fran wrote:Definitely, by the by they should be improving(?) old models but from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone. I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but wouldn't they be a telecaster and musicmaster respectively?BacchusPaul wrote:Yeah, they should make a two pickup version of the Esquire, and then maybe a one pickup version of the Mustang with a different bridge.
Those'd be awesome.
I think in the grand scheme of things, those guitars didn't sell that well. so like you said, they've kind of strayed away from new designs since then. they're sticking to what sells.Fran wrote:from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone.
Hmm, i think it was clear from the offset them 3 designs were for a niche market (kurdtz army & the like minded) and were never intended to challenge the big two. Maybe im blinkered to anything but the world i live in but them models sold quite well, especially considering no-one famous endorsed two of them.mage wrote:I think in the grand scheme of things, those guitars didn't sell that well. so like you said, they've kind of strayed away from new designs since then. they're sticking to what sells.Fran wrote:from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone.
stratocasters.
agreed. I'd love to see a Starcaster reissue, although the new WRHBs are nowhere near the old ones in design or sound quality.Mike wrote:Either the Starcaster or Coronado would sell massively as a reissue.Fran wrote:Definitely, by the by they should be improving(?) old models but from a new design perspective they have been quite stagnant since the JS, Toronado and Cyclone. yup. apparently the chrome topped ones are better than the black centred jobs, but i haven't played one with the black pickups. i've heard people say they're weak and anaemic sounding, mine certainly aren't so i can only assume they're referring to the black type. or maybe they want it to sound like a 335 or something even though they're clearly single coils.Skiptracer1981 wrote:The Coronados were neat, they had deArmonds in them, did they not?
That Squier Series 24 line was pretty cool, and loosely along those lines.Fran wrote:I'd sure like to see Fender make some Chuck Berry 335....
I have the set neck, with the duncan pups. IT's a great player. Probably my favorite guitar I own. Worth every penny of $400 and I got it for 140 shipped.mezzio13 wrote:That Squier Series 24 line was pretty cool, and loosely along those lines.Fran wrote:I'd sure like to see Fender make some Chuck Berry 335....
Ends, you own an M-80?!?!?!?!? Bolt-on or set neck. I love those. I almost bought three bolt-ons when Media Play (sort of version of FYE) went under. They had five left for $120 each, and I was hoping that the clearance prices would have gone down a little more, as I had $300 on hand. I finally decided that that was a good enough price and went in and all five were gone. Coincidentally, GC had five new M-80s in stock for $175 a few days later. I also really REALLY like those Elites from that series.
They are mine, i borrowed him them.Justyn wrote:Brian Molko has been rocking the Toronado and the Cyclone lately
