They are quite different, but I agree with you. A Mustang or Baja Tele would offer more sounds.stewart wrote:two CP jags would be a bit daft, i think.
Why is it I keep wanting all of Mike's old guitars?
What I am hoping is that if I rolling humbuckers back on the HH, I get close enough to a single coil jag sound and then have the full humbuckers.
I need to find a local store that has one in stock. The main thing is I need to not get in a hurry. I could always switch to a Single Jag CP if I am not digging the HH>

On the other hand:
Originally I had no idea why someone would want a kill switch. And then, when I found out, it seemed to me that you'd really need a toggle to rock it effectively. But now that I have my Jaguar I think the switch actually could work OK for that on the HH, at some level anyway. And it isn't completely useless as I originally thought. Which doesn't mean someone necessarily wants it.
BTW, if you got both CP Jags, it's possible the different functions of the same controls might drive you crazy; you'd have to make a special effort to remember which guitar you are playing, Unless you're someone who never uses the rhythm circuit on a normal jaguar, or never wants to split the coils on the HH version.
Wow, I haven't encountered that many people who like that feature, what do you use it for?taylornutt wrote:
Both the Baja and the Mustang have the out-of-phase switching (which I like)
This is a digression, but it's something I think about because my Musicmaster II can easily have the out-of-phase switching put in, the routes are already there, but I got the impression most people don't really like or use it. To see for myself I tried a Mustang in a shop, and to me that setting sounded kind of thin, quiet and weird. I couldn't readily see how I would want to use it. Consequently when I added a second pickup to the Musicmaster I put in a toggle switch instead of using the Mustang sliders & wiring. But clearly I might be missing something here, which I'd like to understand.
But certainly if you like that feature that's one plus in favor of the Mustang over the Duo-Sonic, or the Jaguar.
It still occurs to me that one of the major distinguishing features between Baja vs. Jaguar would be the scale lengths. Isn't the Baja long scale? Do you prefer the short scale of your Classic Vibe Duo-Sonic, or the long scale?
Not necessarily .stewart wrote:two CP jags would be a bit daft, i think.
I have a friend who has two strats, and originally I though he was daft. But then I realized, they are configured with different pickup combinations. It used to be that a strat meant one particular set of specs, but not these days. If you like that body design, that neck, but you want the different sounds those various pickup combinations produce, why not get them both in the one body and neck design you prefer most?

Like both scales. I have a Jagmaster that is 25.5" and I have a Squier Duo Sonic that is 24". I am selling my PRS which is 25".
So I am open to either scale, though I like the shorter scale.

Update:
I put the PRS on Craigslist here in Dallas and only one bit so far. So I am going eBay now. I hope it sells soon.
I found some good deals on CP Baja Tele ($499) and a white CP Jaguar HH ( $599) or Candy Apple Redy CP Jaguar ($649). They were obviously sold before the price increases.
I am still wondering if I should go for a Mustang instead of the Tele, but I already have a Squier Duo Sonic which is similar. I played a vintage 1968 Mustang that really was cool got me thinking.
If I can't decide on which Jag-you-aaar to buy, I may go ahead and order the Baja Tele while I am sorting it out. I am a very decisive person, but picking between these awesome guitars is hard

If you have the CV Duo, it's soundwise much closer to a Tele than to a Mustang. But it's even closer to a Strat.taylornutt wrote: I am still wondering if I should go for a Mustang instead of the Tele, but I already have a Squier Duo Sonic which is similar. Update on my quest:
The PRS is not selling as quickly as I had hoped. Lots of interest but no dollar signs yet. I plan to take better picks and repost soon.
There are some deals to be had out there. I have been researching some deals that I think will be good if and when I sell the PRS.
What do you think of the following deals:
$499 USED FENDER BAJA TELECASTER

$599 USED FENDER CLASSIC PLAYER JAGUAR HH WHT

$799 USED FENDER 62 VINTAGE JAGUAR REISSUE 3TS RW

I was not really interested in a vintage reissue because of price and I have never played one, but that price looks pretty low ($1000 below retail). Post feedback and comments would be appreciated.

Good Deals on both Jags, afaik. Depends on what sounds and plays better to you ... and how much you want to spend.
Not so good deal on the Tele imho. They are not that much more expensive new?
