The white is actually a crappy amateur refi by some prior owner, I was mucking around with the Builder and actually decided I might do black, or other very dark color, if I refinished it again.

Initially I thought I might change it to the standard white body scheme: red tort guard, white pickup covers- which I really liked. And put in sliders too. But then I started looking more carefully at the older ones I saw. As they aged, it seems the bodies turned yellow, the pickup covers did too but at a different rate, and the white sliders barely aged at all, by comparison. So after a while you have three different shades of white/yellow that all kind of clash with each other, and do not go as well with the red tort pickguard as their original shades did. In my eyes. So I decided to pass on that path. Though I think the new ones look really sharp, possibly best look of all.

Is there some different guitar paint that is being used nowadays which will not fade to yellow so much? And are any of the newer models using this? (Hmm, come to think of it the color of mine hasn't faded much, no idea what that hack used though)

he's a chocolate point siamese. about 18 weeks old. his name is omar, and he plays guitar. but not my supersonics. my seal point siamese named maceo died a few months ago, and now i'm extremely lucky with this one. siamese cats are something else. real real smart.

i love cats like that one.. i used to have a cat to.. but had to give it away to someone..

white nitro will turn yellow if it's exposed to UV (or the clearcoat will), but it takes a long time. if you use poly/acrylic it won't yellow. if i were you i'd refin it daphne blue or dakota red, but that's mainly because i think black mustangs look shit.

I don't like lighter colors with the light tannish MOP pickguard. Except the white is not bad, But using the Builder I thought the darker reds & greens look better, with the most similar pickguard it has to mine. IMO the Builder could use more dark blues and browns on there to compare. (And also the actual 60s MOP pickguard, which is more yellowed/tan vs. their white/silver MOP).But I did like the black too, maybe more.

You really think this looks shit, maybe with some added white competition stripes? 'Cause I kind of like it.

hmm, s'pose it's not that bad really... it's just that a lot of 60s mustangs with black refins i've seen have been done shoddily, so maybe i have an automatic prejudice. i just prefer red, blue and white.

Imo black mustangs look best like this. The White PG just ruins it for me.

To me that just looks like Darth Vader. I prefer the contrast look, where the pickguard is different from, but complements, the body & the pickup covers, not the monolith look where they all blend together as one big blob.
But I nearly failed art class, so my opinion on this isn't worth much. Except to me.

bought it in bits in peices... vintage 66 body, refinished... jagstang neck & all hardware... vintage 65 Mustang pickguard (already routed, wouldn't dare cut up anything vintage)
