I take it we have to wait for USPS to return them to you and give you a refund for the shipping cost, and then for Guitar Centre to refund you for the ones that you're sending back there (or for people to buy them from you?).

I take it this is more likely to happen in 2010 than this year?

no. I don't even have any guarantees that USPS is going to refund me at all. I am refunding out of my pocket. As soon as my check clears (should be either Fri OR Mon)

We'll see how the bank balance is looking. I already have most of xmas taken care of, etc. If I can swing it I will start doing refunds this weekend. If it is going to be tight, it might have to wait 2 weeks. If I get the money for the guitars back prior to that, then of course refunds will start up immediately.

I'd appreciate it if you could update me as soon as you know the score Mickie. If its going to be a wait for the money then you may as well send the guitar, same difference. I got the impression a refund option was a quick solution.
Sorry if that sounds a bit off, i dont intend it to, i'm just getting a bit frustrated by this whole situation. I know its not your fault.

I plan on doing refunds right away (in the next week). I can cover most of it out of my next check (Friday or Monday) without any real issues I think. I want it resolved sooner rather than later as well. I may have some of my $ back by then anyways and can take care of everyone.

Worse case, I can fully refund everyone by the 18th at the latest. I can cover most of it now out of pocket until I get some money back. My wife gets paid early this month (when xmas break starts on the 18th) so if I am still waiting on refunds from USPS, or have not gotten rid of all the guitars, I will fully refund by then at the latest. I hope to just dump the guitars locally on CL and get the cash back right away without being out of pocket very much, or for too long. But one way or another, everyone will be taken care of before xmas.
