One day it will happen...
this totally. I gave up on it a long time ago however. I'm not even actively trying to get a jazzmaster. but it would be nice. some day I probably will.
I used to have a CIJ in CAR with tort. I LOVE that color combo on JMs.
As for mine, I WILL own a vintage Jag or Jazzmaster within the next few months. That's been my #1 desire for quite a while. In the future I'd like a USA Reverend, a Ric 330, and a Gibson Firebird non reverse.
EDIT: Add a Mosrite or Mosrite copy to that list.

awesome list Dots. I am seriously debating ordering a new martin this week. Either a Martin DC1E (not the crappy x or dcme models), a taylor 210ce, or a Breedlove black magic. I had to send my secont Takamine back and just got the refund on my american muscal supply account... Love their paymetn system...
I have been trying to justify whether I should spend more on an acoustic, or buy a 6 and a 12 string acoustic electric. But since I keep having problems with the Takamines (I used to love them) and since I am not a fan of the Ibanez or other inexpensive A/E's I think I am just gonna bite the bullet now.

I have several that are on the list. I buy and sell guitars quite often. I figure that if I pay a reasonable price, play the guitar for 6 months and then sell it for +/-£30 on that price I've got a good deal. At the worst it's like paying £30 to hire a vintage guitar for 6 months, and at best I make a small amount on it. I don't aim to make money, though, just cover my cost and enjoy a wide variety of things. I know people dislike his buying and selling but I think westtexasred just does an exaggeratted version of this.
Anyway, my point is that that way of going about things means that these are all quite likely purchases.
Japanese 335 type
This is definitely happening. I'm gutted the prices have gone up recently because I would have one now otherwise. This may well be my next purchase.
Rickenbacker bass
I don't care too much which variant it is. Every one I've playd has been fantastic. I want it in either black or white. Will probably rock it with roundwound strings and keep a Fender bass (most likely jazz) with flatwounds.
1964 A-Width, 24" scale Duo-sonic II or Musicmaster II in Daphne Blue
1964 because of the II and clay dots combination. I'd also consider a Mustang with the same specs, but it's more likely to be one of the other two because they're a bit cheaper. As Fenders go this is my dream guitar (ignoring basses).
Japanese Greco or similar all black Les Paul copy
They're just too good not to have one for a while. I don't know when this will be as I'm looking to keep things simple for the next however long and it's not a priority. Probably whenever I happen across a good deal on one.

Yeah, I know it's an Eastwood therefore its probably shit. But I think that it looks cool.
Also the Bass VI knockoff from Agile/Rondo Music.
I want to get one of these Squier Jazz Bass with the black blocks and refin the body to something more badass.
And I'm very tempted to pick up a Squier Bullet. Unfortunately nobody in town ever has them in stock, since this is the lowest end of the low end I would want to try before buying as I fear that ordering one online might get result in getting a dud.

i'm pretty sure we played a gig with a band who had a single bound, contoured sunburst tele. i remember thinking it was odd at the time. i can't find a decent photo of it though.

Awesome! I'd love to hear your impressions of it, if you do end up playing it.
And yeah, it's probably too rich for my blood, ATM.

whoa. fucking gorgeous.
i've always fancied this one:
guy from ebay says he'll build me the body for $200. not sure of the wood or anything, but it's with a strat neck heel, rib/forearm contours, no output jack (saving for control plate a la lavigne), and neck hum route.
