my dad told me today that the army is being called into chicago because "the black folks gang antics are starting to encroach on the white people" and "normally the government wouldn't give a fuck if they just stay in thier own neighborhood and kill each other"
ahh the logic of old people. this doesn't help in rods search for spray paint at all

I had some time to work on it today. It is by no means perfect, but a lot better than it was.
After filler:
And after primer:
You can see that at some point this body was way over sanded around the edges. My guess would be it happened when the original paint was stripped off.
I'll let this dry, do a quick sanding, then color. I'm not sure if I'll get to color today, but there's a few hour till the hockey game though so we'll see.

It's so nice out today that the paint is setting up a lot faster than I thought it would. I might get the clear tint done too.
*EDIT*
One coat of tint:
Second coat of tint:
If you look close there are a couple of drips on the front. The nozzel got backed up and spit out a quick burst.
Damn.....it will either flatten out or I'll have to sand them out and respray. I'm hoping it flattens ou because I'm running out of material.

Here's some daylight shots. The spot under the bridge is the biggest one and there are a couple more smaller ones.
I'll let Rob decide if he wants me to try and sand them out. They leveled out smooth and look more like stains now. There is no telling what will happen if I sand them out and try to blend it all together. It may look worse than it does now.
The third and fourth shot show how much the tint changed the color. I've got enough to do maybe one more coat, if Robe gives me a pass on the spots.

i wouldn't bother with another coat of tint, it looks fuckin old as shit right now. perfect.

Hell, I'd leave it.
Wet sanding might be a consideration, shooting clears might melt the concentration of tint. I just painted an orange Mustang with comp stripe and I had some spots where I cut the tape line down to the primer and was left with tiny white spots. I touched them up with a brush using re-dissolved paint from the neck stick. It isn't perfect, but I hoping between clears and the final wet sand I can make it look believable. Genuine is sometimes better than perfect. So is hawt seeafoam.

I'm so glad you said that!
I still need to do all the clear coats and should have them done tomorrow. After that it's got to sit for about a month, then I'll wet sand and buff it out.
It's going to be shiny as fuck, yet still beat to shit looking.

I made a you tube video on masking comp stripes.
You didn't watch it?? I want to post the vid, but can't for some reason? It's got some of my new wave songs backing it.
You've got to cut the tape before laying it out on the body.

Ahhh, figured it out. I was logged in and couldn't copy the url.

Haha...
I still need to do all the clear coats. It's been shitty and raining here every day since I painted it, so I haven't been able to do anything with it this past week. I'm not sure what it's going to be like this weekend, but if it's nice out I will finish up the painting then.
I know you sent the guitar to me a while ago, I just don't want to run into any problems with it by spraying when it's too cold and humid out. And if I don't do all the clear coats the tinted finish coats will be taken off when I wet sand it.
I know it's hard, but you've got to be Patient, my man :}

I knew what you meant, I was just trying to say it's not really in the drying stage untill the clears are done. The only nice day we had was on Sunday and,......well.......the hockey game was on.......so........
I'm going to have to do it a couple nights this week.

Oh shit, I forgot to post, but I did all the clears 3 weeks ago, yesterday. It's just been hanging in my garage drying all this time. I'll check on it this weekend and see if it I've got time to sand and buff it. It should be good to go and I can hopefully ship it back to you sometime next week :}
