Were Squiers made in Mexico?
Yea they were for a while. I've seen a couple in pawn shops around NC. Also, I think that 90's squier duo-sonic that robroe used to have was MIM.
and haze has a tele that i believe is a mexican squier.

And RobRoe's Black Duocaster is a 90's MIM Squier Strat. Apparently they were made up from leftover MIA parts.

those are just the early MIM Fenders though. the first ones were labeled "Fender Squier Series". I wouldn't really class them so much as Squiers. It's all rather semantic though.

Yeah for a period in the 90's, i remember the change over and the fuss that followed. All the Fender Snobs instantly dismissed the first wave of 'F' branded MIMs as 'Squier's with a different decal'. Obviously they now have the respect they deserve though.

to be honest though, the early MIM fender/squiers really aren't really as nice as the current MIM fenders. they all have really cheap hardware and electronics. I would take a new affinity squier over one of those MIM squiers. cheap guitars have gotten much better in the last 10 - 15 years.
