is that the one fran's selling ?

i think because it lies somewhere inbetween fuzz and distortion with the definition but still sounding hairy enough something big muff is probably an answer and especially paired with a saltbooster....should sound pretty massive, the one i had i loved it but just couldn't get on with it when there were other instruments in there...it just got 'lost'. so one built to different specs solving the usual problems of the regular big muff does sound like a good option. i'm not sure wether i'll buy a new pedal or not, i'm gonna have to spend some more time just focusing on getting this particular sound with the tools i have but maybe it's time to let the blue box go... it always disappoints me when i turn it on.

that's the same one i've got, wooden box jobbie. i really like it now after a period of falling out of love with it (due to size more than anything). i've also got a green mike one, which is a bass monster. the cool cat fuzz is worth a look, but definitely a 'stable' fuzz, you'd need to whack a boost in front of it for raggedy stuff, i'd reckon. they cheap though.

I had a big wooden box one, one of the older ones with the pointy dials (not true bypass). I couldn't be bothered with how massive it was, especially when you look inside and see that the circuit is teeny. I also figured I'd be better off wit trew bypass. But when I got it I couldn't hear any difference between true bypass and non true bypass. When I compared them side by side I could barely tell any difference at all. The sweeps on the dials were slightly different to me, that was it. Basically still the same but smaller. So I sold the big one (still have the wooden box).

clean, clean +saltboost, TGD +saltboost and at the end muting and playing and how TGD reacts, i'm constanyly changing the settings on TGD througout TGD (settings pic following), TGD +saltboost
Image TGD (2nd setting), TGD +saltboost
Image
going back and forth between : TGD with no playing, making eehs, TGD + Blue box (the blue box changes the sound of the eeehs to a hiss)

I just got a dwarf craft spectacular aenima, which is still very crazy and un predictable, but less of a monster than TGD.

yeah that tone wicker muff really shines compared to the other 'new' big muffs, much more in your face. and i think boosted with a saltbooster it could get really awesome. it's about 88eur i saw. i keep listening to mike's green big muff and maybe it's the sound in the video, i never tried the pedal irl but it sounds a bit too harsh with not enough body (not much mids ?) but it could be youtube fucking up the sound quality.

I love my big muff w/ tone wicker, but does anybody else's sort of hiss when you're not playing anything when the wicker is on?

also i love how that guitar kicks in it has so much bite, it's the same on that boris song, usually when you hit a chord it's just 'whooom' but on both these tracks the first chord is is like you sort of slide from the fret before it to the next or something, but i don't think that's it, i think it's just the way the guitar is fuzzed and distorted it reacts like that.

Tone wicked BM blows regular BM out of the water. love it.

That jethro tull riff is bestial. I need to learn aqualung. Needs a sludged out cover badly.
