i have a few jagmasters and they are all pretty good- esp for the money--
the older ones are better- but that's kind of standard for about every guitar--
i put p-90's in them and they play great

The vistas are great, but I much prefer the current one to the middle ones in just about every way. (apart from the silver sparkle colour which was awesome)

I guess it's just a preference thing, I prefer the vintage style bridge to the 2 post one and I prefer the neck finish and length on the newer ones ... but they are all cool imo.

The new ones use a conversion neck, correct? How about the Vistas?

IMO, don't bother on any of them except for the Vista. And even then, only if you get a good price. Otherwise you're probably better off getting a MIJ Fender.

the vistas are just a normal 24" scale neck. reputedly it's the same as a MIJ jaguar neck, as they were made side by side with MIJ jaguars.

I'm getting bored of my Jagmaster II already. It's been a fun project though.

If a Classic Vibe Jaguar comes out, it'll blow these ones out of the water.

That'd be amazing if they brought one of them out.

They won't.

I don't see how it'll blow the Jagmasters out of the water either. They are completely different guitars.

It's unlikely, I agreee, if only from how they'd undercut the pricier models (if quality was on a par with the CV Teles or Strats). But if I'd paid full price (around £250 in the UK) for it, I'd be pretty frustrated. The stock pickups, in particular were terrible.

unlikely, yeah, but i think the probability has been increasing more each year as the popularity of jags increases.

Vistas are the most desired but in all honesty they're all good . The Vistas do have better electrics though . Like any Squier the pots and pickups can be blah which can be an easy switch out but as for the woodwork and the hardware it's actually great for the money . I might just wind up getting a Jag later down the road myself .

As the proud owner of an early (Dec 96) VISTA SERIES Jagmaster, I can honestly say that THEY RULE!

I've never had the chance to play one of the Jagmaster II's with the 25 1/2" scale. I HAVE however, tried a recent Chinese Jagmaster, and was somewhat disappointed. Compared to the Vista, it felt like crap (sorry to say).

I have owned a newer Jagmaster that I put Fender Dragster pickups into ti and I currently own a CAR Jagmaster II that I pimped out with Lindy Fralin Jazzmaster pickups. The Vista neck is second to none and I like the gloss finish on the Jagmaster II neck over the newer ones. The Jagmaster II have the 2 post strat trem (similiar to a Fender American Standard strat) which have a tendency to let the posts rip out. I had to repair mine.

I have said in the past I really wanted a Vista Series Jagmaster, but I am not a fan of the Strat trem. I think I would rather have the Classic Player Jaguar HH (in white) over a Vista Jagmaster if I had to choose. Still I have enjoyed my Jagmaster II and it sounds cool.

Well, I did get a chance to try out one of the current production models a few weeks ago, and I wasn't slain by it. It wasn't awful, but not really my thing. Still, not too bad at the price.

I'd probably be more inclined towards the Vista series by what I'm reading here. If I ever run across one, I'll be sure to give it a go... Any easy way to tell them apart?

Yep...there's a little "vista series" logo on the headstock. I nearly got a bargain on one of these a few months back, when I went back to buy it, someone had beaten me to it :x Not tempted by the current models at all, but the rumours are true...the necks on these definitely feel like a cij jag. At least I have a cij jag to console me I guess
