not perfect string thru holes, my pin was a little loose but I'll let it slide this time.

I'm flat sanding and polishing the bottom the bridge to make better contact with the body.
Image
DWIGHT CUSTOM 0001. Not my first body, just first in the SS style. Still Haven't picked out a name for this body style.
more to come later.

BTW, in some of those pics the center line looks a bit off, because it is. I use a laser center line and calipers.

That was an experiment with a blue base coat and hobby lobby glitter in the clear. It wasn't that great. it didn't look right and it also took a ton of clear to bury the flake. and took like 6 months to gas out enough to flat sand and polish. and then it dimpled/ orange peeled again.
this is kustom shop automotive poly flake, expensive stuff and slow shipping but worth it. I only use automotive paints and clear on metal flake now. poly clear I can do 3 coats a day and is 99% gassed out/ dry in a week, 2 weeks is better. click the pic. if you didnt see this earlier. it's a video.

I like those but the look a little wide. Might not clear the Jack plate. Icluld always machine a different jackplate. Ill have to see.some dimensions and put down on paper to see how it looks.

Glad to have donated a control plate. Psyched to see the progress.
I just ordered a left-hand strat trem plate. My theory is that I will be able to replace the right handed one with a left handed one, screw down the plate to the body at the trem arm hole, and be able to remove the block and the springs etc. If it works, I can hard-tail all four of my normal Super-Sonics. Starting from scratch, I would do what you are doing, or maybe go with a left-handed Tele bridge like my coral one.

Question, how did you measure out and get the string through holes lined up perfect like that for the back? I'm going to be doing a SS clone sometime soon also with a string through bridge, and I wanna make sure I do them right this time.

at most auto stores, they have a sparkle paint. Any auto touch up works great, its meant for being out side and sun.

http://www.duplicolor.com/

that brand is at most stores.

and this metal specks is close:

just a clear coat would make it shine.

its not as rollerskate jet boat as the original SS though....

I hope that works. I thought of doing that with a strat once. tried it but it lest a 1/2" gap at the bottom of the trem. I suggest filling the trem route and start there. only issue would be that gap would end up as a bare piece of wood. refinish maybe? Wasn't it you that did a tele bridge conversion? that's about what i did except with a hard tail.

someone also makes a "tremno" i think that's what its called. it replaces one of the springs in the trem cavity and its adjustable, so you could tighten the eff out of it.

read this and other links in the thread. I took pic's but they were pretty dark and explaining it would take forever.

look here and follow the links posted in the thread. should help you out. youll also need access to a 6'' drill press, if you dont already. I use the pin method. read on and you'll see what I mean.

Got to work on converting some grover klusons to leftys tonight.
Image
you just have to pry the bent tabs that hold them together and pry them apart.
Image
then just flip the tuner spiral gear and knob 180 degrees.
Image
press them back together and ta-da, lefty tuner.
lefty on left and righty on right.

I cant thank you enough. I started learning to machine metal so future projects wont be an issue.
