That would be great if you could.
Okay, the pedal did sound great, quite similar to my Fulltone but more gain available. Maxed out it gave John that early Sabbath sound like a tube amp pushed to its limit with dirty break up, but bare in mind we are in drop A tuning and he uses a Gibson SG. It may be cleaner with single coils though and might fit your needs but im not completely sure.
The downside is the switch is faulty so John gave Martin a call at rehearsal and has to take it back tomorrow. I'm sure this is a one off though.
I sold my Turbo Rat on eBay last night so with the proceeds I might treat myself to the Dirt Box to see what it's like - the GMD demo sounded good and if it doesn't suit my original requirement it'll still be a good pedal to have in my arsenal.

Hahaha

johnnyseven I just replied to your PM on the FN5. I love that pedal, there are some really good demos out there on youtube.
Think it could do what you are after, otherwise I would recommend the Dano TOD too.

Cant fault you mate on the Dirt Box, it was impressive last night minus the switch issue.
John took the pedal back today and he swapped it him no problem even not being able to see anything wrong with it. 8)

Smallsound/bigsound put out two overdrives that seem to do just what you describe.

Am starting to kind of miss that pedal haha

It was damn nice, used to have it set as a slightly dirty boost to make my amp sound like armageddon

So I tried the CC Drive, good pedal - but just not the sound i'm looking for. I think i've come to the conclusion that drive pedals aren't my thing, they tend to sound thick and lack the trebliness i'm looking for (or maybe i'm trying the wrong ones), and i've also realised that i'm not looking for a low gain pedal but more of a lower mid-gain pedal. I think distortion pedals are more my bag. I fiddled around with my modded Rat (not the one i'm selling in the classifieds but another I have) last night and realised that I can get close enough to the sound I want, as I was using it for another sound I never really thought of seeing if it could do this kind of sound. I also ordered the Coopersonic Dirtbox, so hopefully with these 2 pedals i'll have the bases I want covered covered.

Seems to be some quality control issues with these pedals, mine arrived and it didn't work at all - bypass was fine but engaged no sound came out. I contacted them though and sent it back and it came back a few days later and it works fine. Plus instead of refunding my postage they sent me a new, lighter power supply for my Valveslapper as the one that came with it is very heavy and I thought it would be good to have a spare as they run off an unusual voltage. Incidentally the guy I was speaking to about the fault was Chris Olley from Six by Seven.

Johnny, I got my Boss OD3 in the post recently and I really love it for low-mid gains. It's definitely overdrive and not distortion though. Plenty of gain and high end, but quite open and keeps your low end (doesn't expand it), and a little bit of fizz which I like for sizzle. I'd say give it a try. Also, the Blues Driver is a bit tighter and sharper which might be better for what you want.

Thanks George. With my Rat and the Dirtbox I should hopefully have my mid to low gain covered, however if they don't measure up i'll look into your recommendations.

Mark, fancy posting some gutshots of your Coopersonic gear? Curious about how these are built.

No probs, i'll give it a go but I only have a camera on my phone and it's a bit temperamental - sometimes it likes taking photos of small things, sometimes it doesn't. Is there anything you'd like to see in the photos?

I'd like to know what sort of switching/switches they use, what jacks and what the boards look like. Outta professional curiosity.

From memory, I don't think my Valveslapper has a PCB but one of those brown boards with the holes in it like Mike uses - I could be wrong though. I'll try and take some photos tonight.

However , if you come and see my band play at 8pm on the 18 February at The Water Rats, Kings Cross you'll be able to hear both in action! And my new pickups from The Creamery, if they've arrived in time.
