That's a good answer - probably the right one.

My train of thought at the moment though is "I only got this Saturday, what will it be like in a year?". I'm still in the 7 day cooling off period so can cancel this and get a refund. Strikes me as a factory defect, so what if the finish is fucked and the neck is at risk of further damage.

I'd return it, a finish shouldn't wear away that fast, and worn maple is not pretty.

It's the tint in the lacquer flaking off: don't worry about it. It'll look great in a year.

Hmm okay then. I'm still in two minds though, and having covetous thoughts about swapping for a '60s instead.

60's shit is always win because it HAS ROSEWOOD. (but you still have to change out the pickguard :) )

I already have a sunburst 60s CV Tele so I would go CAR.

I played the '50s and '60s together in my local shop and didn't notice a massive difference between the necks, but at home the Tele neck is way slimmer and better for my little hands (apparently the same as the 60s Strat with just a different heel and headstock). The '50s neck is too chunky a monkey.

So you've got an awesome colour combination Strat with a great neck profile that is going to look aged and played in nice and quick.

DO NOT UNDERSTAND PROBLEM. Listen to benecol or sell this to me for 10 pounds please george.

I'll give you 20.

Seriously though, I don't really like strats at all. This, however, is one guitar that I would buy in a flash and leave almost completely unmodified. It's a beauty.
