Ankhanu, you know you can upgrade the pup's`? Personally I'm happy they didn't go the "hey, lets put some Jazz pup's or P/J pup's here and make it sound like everything that Fender is/has/will ever put out" -way

OK, Tele-bass has a humbucker, but that's all.

Yeah, but I was talking about the look of those specific pickups in that body style. I think they look gash.
As far as upgrading goes, without some heavy modification work, you're kinda stuck with humbuckers, since the routes are huge. Upgrades are gonna look basically the same, though they'll sound different. Again, my comment was just about the appearance of the instrument.

Sound wise, I certainly agree with you.

oh god, this. totally. hate the 300 series. I think the best looking rics are those early combos westy likes to post. but the 600s with the wave cutaway come close second.

It's quite rare indeed theres a company I won't buy new products from for personal reasons, but only one I avoid secondhand on the same principle.
