Why is this suddenly a Phil X hate parade and Honey examination?

I don't get any vibe of Honey's opinions presented as better, they are simply fornal-ish,

Umm, add the Badtz Maru Bronco Bass (this probably annoys you, too) and you're talking about four instruments that probably get 2/3 of my play time. It's no different from someone mentioning their favorite guitars on here, like Mustang, Jaguar, Bronco, etc., and two of them are Fendery short scales so they're even on topic.

To be fair, I want both the Badtz Maru bass and Hello Kitty! guitar :P

haha. It just makes me laugh because you're mentioning YOUR guitars. I know of at least three different guitars of yours because you post them so often, do you know what kind of guitars hotrod owns? what kind of guitars I own? what about desmondwafers? Ankhanu? We don't go around talking about our guitars non-stop because we realize that people are only so interested in it. I post a picture of my guitars in the "post pictures of your guitar" thread every once in awhile but that's it really. It doesn't even annoy me, it's uninteresting to read because it's too predictable.

And yes, I understand that we're all hear because we love guitars but you can only post about your hellokitty and sparklez bass so many times before I don't care.

I liked the attempt at the Elliot Easton solo. :D I can't play most of the guitar solos in Cars songs.

How long have I posted here? How many names do I know? I can't name things that those users you have named play and that's because I'm new, and that's the extent of that one. I can name a few people who have talked to me in a personal context, and I can tell you what some of their instruments are, and I've watched a handful of demos, so I can tell you what those people have. And I was familiar with Mike's videos for years before I came here, so I can name some of the guitars he's had, but really, it's not like I'm doing a study here. If you post in a new forum with established users, they will learn a lot more about you in the first few months than you will about them because there's just asymmetry in terms of how much information each side has to learn.

So yeah, I don't know what you play, but you probably put Bronco knobs on them. I'm not sure I understand, but apparently Bronco knobs are like the spinning rims of www.shortscale.org and you would put them on your significant others if they would let you.

I don't know what they play either . . .

I don't expect you to know the gear they play. I know what hotrod has because I actually know him and actually have his Jag right now.

I also don't put bronco knobs on my guitars because I think they're too tall. I usually end up just throwing whatever knobs I have laying around my house on my guitars. Anyways, cheers dude.

that pompous chip on your shoulder is getting quite fucking annoying.

it's not just port_willie who's noticed it, and you're not understanding that it's tiring to view your posts that read like some kind of prissy, nose-to-the-sky, dead horse beating, almost OCD type explanation.

oh yeah, but you type so eloquently. it's a shame that the shit you say is absurd, and pushy. i apologize for being so blunt, but you seem to have deaf eyes.

Well, I'm sorry that my posts have that effect on you, but you know, chalk up some of this to me being new. I'm a geartard, I don't have a single (non-bass) guitar right now that I've had for more than four months right now; I sold my entire collection and bought 8 other guitars. My gear acquisition syndrome really does work at that pace and this place and the mundane discussions about the same old gear is far more fascinating to me than it might be to someone who's been here longer than I have, so I'm just running through my course of oh, this is exciting, oh, I want to talk about that, etc. If that's irritating to people who have seen it all by now, I can understand that.

Yeah, I'm borderline OCD. Ask anyone that knows me. I can't shut up about my cat, and it's not like I got her last week.

So my gear musings can be repetitive. But I am mostly posting in the gear sections of the website, where I figured such talk would be met with less resistance, but maybe not. And you have to admit, some of you guys can be often abrasive and dismissive of things you don't approve of, and then when someone comes to defend these things, people get annoyed that they have to defend what they said or whatever, and of course that can be annoying, especially if the initial statement verged on hyperbole. But if you want to express your disapproval of something, then a natural thing that might happen is that someone else will express their disapproval of what you said. And the only times I've gotten into multi-post debates on this site, it has seemingly been over gear or music. Am I taking things too seriously? It's just if I can't have detailed discussions on those things, I'd probably get bored with this website because it's one of the few music-related websites in the world where you can talk about a Mustang and people will assume you mean the guitar and not the amp.

And for what it's worth, yeah, maybe I have that tone of voice (text) or whatever that makes readers think I'm trying to convert them. But look. Almost every single time, my opinion on something is that I see the upsides and the downsides. That is, I almost always am in some sort of a gray area of opinions, almost never black or white, although I often seem to be debating people who take a black or white approach to an issue and therefore assume that I'm on the other side of the fence and trying to lure them into my thinking. But if you read what I say, I don't say that I'm 100% right, you're 100% wrong. If I'm ever seen doing this, or making personal attacks, feel free to call me out because that's something I shouldn't be doing. Anyway, I think I've done about as much of this self-analysis as I'm willing to endure.

Go figure.

I actually think Bronco knobs are cool, it's just I've read many posts on this site that ask, "What should I do with [ ]?" and without fail, someone says, "Bronco knobs." I don't quite understand.

As far as I can tell, it's partly an in-joke... kinda like every guitar should be pank.

But every guitar should be pink. Only a real man can look cool with one of these:
