i got my '68 twin for 2500 pesos, too. that was around $200 back then.
deal! - needed new speakers, though.
beat to shit, i love it.

I'm working on it! Changed my tubes plans again. Cheapest decent quality I can find is muskding, all JJ stuff.
Did you try Eurotubes?

Yeah, that was the first place I checked after you sent me the link. Cost a bit more that Musikding.

I would go to Hot Rox personally - great service and well priced, and always good to support a family business. You're probably talking about a few quid difference overall anyway right?
In real terms preamp tubes will last you a VERY long time so you're not throwing your money away on something more expendable like a power tube (which last ages if biased correctly and not abused). I can recommend Tung Sol 12ax7s, they're amazing. I've heard mixed things about JJs but no personal experience. They're standard on new production Fenders and people often find them sterile, though that could be because the power tubes are underbiased.

I've bought the JJs now from Musikding so too late for Hot Rox. I needed to get stuff as cheaply as possible right now.

I've had good experiences with JJ's so you'll be fine with them.
