gotcha makes sense.
pine is catching on. the 50s classic vibe (blonde and butterscotch) are both made from pine. A lot of people complain about how soft the wood is but from what I can tell is it REALLY depends on the piece of wood. Some pine is too soft to build guitar out of and others are more than suitable.
*disclaimer, I don't REALLY know what I'm talking about, I'm just listing an opinion I heard from someone else

rosewood.....darker tone, easier on the eyes, and like the feel
also, u can use 0000 steel wool to clean it and the frets.... cannot do with glossy maplz

Yeah. Really, it's not any worse than basswood, which is quite popular.
That said, it
is a very resinous wood, and needs to be aged for a long time to avoid resin/sap oozing out of the wood of the finished product.

prefer the look, sound, and feel of Rosewood.
My Guild has a Brazilian rosewood board and it spoils me so...

I went for maple, all my guitars have rosewood fingerboards and I want a (fendery) change. Maple fb's are the only ones doing it for me right now. Saying all that I'll probably come home with another all mahogany rosewood fingerboard gibsonalike next time the GAS gets the better of me.
