especially when these low end guitars are all made in China and Indonesia at the moment..
i'd buy a Squier Mustang without a second thought.

i suspect they might fuck it up and give it a strat jack, two humbuckers, and a stupid hardtail...
fender already fucked up the pawnshop mustang.. had they called it a pawnshop duosonic i'd have zero issues with the guitar

--

on topic these look like great little guitars for the price. i wonder how long they will be available/where they are made etc..

Well, you never know. :) Squier is just now releasing a "real" Jazzmaster (J Mascis), so who knows? Maybe there's hope for the offsets after all. I'd love to see Squier do a nice "proper" Jag - maybe a CV Jaguar. A Mustang would be nice too. And they are currently doing a Squier Mustang Bass, so there's already a connection there. Maybe they'll expand that into guitars. I have no idea - but it would be cool. Alas, what I'd really like to see them reissue - Duo Sonic II's - there's slim chance to none of that ever happening. Not with the 50s inspired CV Duo Sonic in the Squier lineup. :(

The J Mascis Squier is pretty cool BTW... a Squier Mustang or Jaguar at this level of quality at this price point ($380) would sell like mad around here methinks.

 Yeah, some of the Squier the VM stuff is kind of like that... I'd ask for a CV Mustang and hope they kept it relatively authentic.

I suspect we'll find out more in another day or two. It will probably say somewhere on the guitar.

i'll try to make a video demo if my friend lend me he's iPhone. (i have no video-capable device at all LOL)
Otherwise I'll use my Zoom H4 to record some clips. It'll feature the Legend Mustang -> Fuzz Munchkin -> Pro jr.

guys, here's a quick demo. the pickup switching and gear used are all listed there.

Demo Link

i was only able to record in low volume, so the amp itself is totally clean. i'll upload some photos once i got the camera.

man, i'm really happy with this guitar. i've always wanted a mustang, and this copy really delivers that lo-fi sounding feel.
its fret is flatter than the ones i've played before, and the wood doesn't look as nice. but overall it feels good and easy to play on.
the pickups are, as expected, weak. however they are quite clear and are nice contrasts to my p90 jazzmaster.
other than changing some electronics parts, i think it's good as is.
one question though, i'm not sure whether it's wired right or wrong..

it's:
●○○ ○○● non hum cancelled
○○● ○○● hum cancelled
(switch position)

is it right? i remember it's the other way around but not sure about it.

the hardwares looks/feels authentic and the setup is perfect right out of the box (gonna admire japanese for this).
i'm using 0.9 strings, bridge and tail piece set to closest to the body. it stays in tune nicely.
the pickguard is not the best turtle shell i've seen though.

overall, it's a good guitar. i won't hesitate taking it on stage.

So glad you like it!

What is the finish like on the neck?

the finish is not bad at all. it's quite comfortable. it's just the wood doesn't look as nice as some authentic fender guitars.

1. PICS OR GTFO

2. Yeah, that should be right for the switching, since both on the outside like that has the pickups out of phase, so they can't cancel out the noise.

Also, since you won't respond to the thread in the Whore House, I want to buy your band's album but there's no buy option. Sort that shit out.

EDIT: Nevermind, you did. I'm a moron. Carry on.
