Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.... it's a ghost of a speaker cabinet.
I just went back and read the feature list on this thing, holy fuck I want those features on a Twin-style head! Preamp out for recording that doesn't burn out the transformer??! Multiple ohm output??? self-biasing tubes????robroe wrote:![]()

Hahaha I totally thought the same thing.benecol wrote:Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.... it's a ghost of a speaker cabinet.
Yeah, I'm really curious about the price-tag on this thing. My bass amp is tits up, and there aren't really any techs in the area... this would be a superb replacement... and if I like it with guitar too, I can pick up a reverb pedal and not carry my Twin around!Pens wrote:I just went back and read the feature list on this thing, holy fuck I want those features on a Twin-style head! This shit is state of the art.
From what I've read on talkbass they're going to be priced around the same as an Ampeg SVT classic. So probably around $1700, so a bit pricey until they hit the used market. Looking at the features on this amp, If I were in the market for a brand new tube bass amp, this might come out ahead of the SVT classic. I'm a total ampeg guy, but the models since they stopped production in the USA have been pretty unreliable. I got my used SVT 2 pro, for about $800 and it's one of the last models produced in the USA so I got a good one and am not looking to get rid of it or get anything else besides maybe a lightweight amp like an orange terror bass as an easier to carry around option. I think Fender really got it right with these bassman amps though so I'm pretty excited to hear how they sound. With Fender putting this amp out, and Orange putting out the AD200B, I think Ampeg might be forced to start upping their quality, or they might fall behind.Ankhanu wrote:Yeah, I'm really curious about the price-tag on this thing. The original bassman amps, didn't have quite enough head room for bass so they became pretty popular with guitar players. I have a friend that plays bass through one of the old silverface bassman amps and it sounds really good, but it is very dark, and very gainy, not something that the majority of bass players are after, but it works for certain styles.mastermorya wrote:I can never tell whether a Bassman is actually for the bass. I thought Fender made "bassman" amps that tone attorneys love to play their guitars through. And I played a little cheap old silverface Musicaster "Bass" amp one time that sounded really good with a regular guitar.
So is this new Bassman for bass, (b)ass or what?
Anyway, are there any clips of the sound of these new amps? I like the Sword in the Stone one, maybe.
Quite a few people on this forum, myself included, swear by the MM Bass amp. It's a really great little amp for guitar: sounds excellent, no fussy controls and a perfect power rating for rehearsals and small gigs.mastermorya wrote: I played a little cheap old silverface Musicaster "Bass" amp one time that sounded really good with a regular guitar.
Feature set is different.dub wrote:Isn't it just this amp with a makeover?

+1. I like to call it the Mini Bassman. I traded mine to Haze and he said it sounded similiar to his Bassman.timhulio wrote:Quite a few people on this forum, myself included, swear by the MM Bass amp. I was in at the local Long&McQuade on Saturday and they had it listed in their systems already. Street price was $1799.99.Billy3000 wrote:From what I've read on talkbass they're going to be priced around the same as an Ampeg SVT classic.
