True. I've had it happen on the low E string when downtuning.
This could be something as simple as a bad pack of strings. I had some Ernie Balls once that would not settle down, took them off and never bought any since.

Ive used mostly ernie balls with everything i have. Ive never had any sort of issue. Either way after taking the guitar apart i was able to fix the switch by bending it a bit. still feels cheap as fuck. lubed the nut and saddles, restrung up and tuned up. just jammed on it for about ten minutes after stretching the strings and im still not sure if its better.
