ANTI-THEFT SELF-DESTRUCTING REVERB

It appears from this thread that I am very definitely wrong for thinking that Orange amps take pedals well.

Oops.

Ah well, I like the sounds I get.

I think it's dirt pedals Freddie that people struggle with and orange amps. But then if you spend time I'm sure you'll get a tone you like.

One of the reasons I might get an orange amp is because of the issues with pedals, it'll save me a fortune and hopefully stop me buying pedals all the time :)

It's a good theory but unlikely to work in practice.

I haven't had a chance to post about it yet, but I can confirm after a week with the AD30 that it works great with everything I use on my board:

Image

The dirt there is the Lovepedal Les Lius into a Bass Big Muff in the "Dry" setting, which passes the dry signal through at unity gain and turns the "Volume" control into a blend; this combination sounded great into my Vibrosonic and sounds great into the AD30.

Having said that, I have quite enjoyed making use of the two channels and not using the Les Lius in "always on" mode to make up for the Vibrosonic's total lack of overdrive. One of my reasons for pursuing an AD30 was also to attempt to move away from having to always use an overdrive pedal as part of my base sound.

I've got great sounds from my Tiny Terror with every dirt pedal I've ever owned. Maybe I just have strange taste! haha

They're not renowned for taking fuzzes, ODs or distortions well, but (and I'm running against my ethics a tiny bit here, but it bears repeating) the big box Dano Fabtone into a Tiny Terror is one of the best (if not the best) pedal/amp combinations I've ever heard. Instant Fu Manchu.

Freddy V-C wrote:Most people seem to prefer quite a sterile clean sound for taking pedals, but I've never been a fan of that. I always find that dirt pedals sound a lot better going through an already breaking up amp. My Tiny Terror is PERFECT for this, usually with tone at 1 o clock and gain at 11 o clock, although obviously that changes slightly depending on where I am, which guitar I'm using etc...

I love my fabtone BUT I can't figure out what the "Fab" knob does. Apparently nothing.

quit yelling.

I do not own a Mustang amp but I have heard nothing but raves.
Personally I have found nothing better for loud and clean with pedals better than the Ampeg Micro bass. I would call second to my mig 50. That accounts for the amps I have owned though. Maybe I am crazy but I prefer the sound of ss.

I think it's because he's from a different continent. He may not be up to par on social norms or a largely US and UK forum.

You're not if it works for you.

as mentioned above, oranges can be a little fickle on what dirt pedals they like.
the ones that did work very well have been my OCD, the Dano OCD clone and the MBM dirty little secret. modulation etc all sound fine, though if your using the amp for gain, delays get a little muddy.

to be fair, i've stopped using a majority of pedals since getting the DT as i like what sounds i get from the amp and like messy round with guitar settings to change sounds.

i've always wanted to try a fabtone into it since Image mentioned it a while back.

i've not tried main pedals with it, as i don't have many but the OCD sounded really good on my new mustang II. either on a clean setting or driven it's pretty nice. i missed fuzz tones so may get a FF clone for use with it.

my blues deluxe was a good pedal amp, if you like having your head sliced to death by it's harsh top end and useless EQ.
