It is white now. I had a run so I am going to let it dry overnight so I can lightly sand it flush before doing a second coat of arctic white. :)

Arctic White done. Next (once it is nice and dry) I will put part masks on and do my yellowed white on the exposed parts. :)

Thanks! The masking part will be a bit tougher. Never done it, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. :)

Got the yellowed white sprayed. First coat. One more to go! Then it needs to dry for awhile to get ready for nitro clear.

Masking worked ok. The spots where the pickguard screws go are a little big. Going to try to wetsand it a little to either take the dots off or fade them slightly. I think it went pretty ok. I won't know really for sure until tomorrow. I want to let it dry over night before I do anything else at this point. Next will come the nitro clear which has a MUCH longer drying time. Duplicolor spoils me. I did five coats of paint in about twelve hours today.

Looks pretty good. Parts cover the brighter white.

Stock guard is too yellow. I am thinking white pearl. :)

Just wondering.. What was the point of the masking? For vintagey look? If so then that's pretty awesome and it kinda reminds me of my classic vibe duo.
Congratulations! Your Punkacc9 evolved into Awstin.

You are doing a good job on this. Just makes sure to see it through to the end and not cut any corners. It will take the nitro a bit of time to finally cure.

Totally. The custom guard will likely take a month at least, so that should give the nitro time to set. It will be haning to dry that whole time. :)

I am buying one of these for my next paint job.

I made a lot of mistakes on my first paint job that I hopefully won't repeat again.

HNB, you're sending this back to me when you're all done -- right? :P

I would clean up the neck a bit and shoot it with tinted nitro.

Just going to try to make it look older. (Simulated color change for fun.)

Paint stuff can be fixed. Worst case sand it all off and start over.

I already cleaned the paint off of the neck. Just took some light sanding with a fine sanding block. I think this will be a keeper, but it misses the jag. It asked me to tell you that you should trade it for my Jazzmaster ala Cobain so they can be together again. Man would I love that Jaguar. CAR.... /drooool

Clear is finished. Now comes the drying time. Later this afternoon after the fumes have died down a bit, I will move it in to my house to finish drying.

Ordered a custom pickguard and tremolo cover from Pickguardian. I realize that I didn't paint behind there white, but honestly I don't know when the last time it had a cover on it was, so it is still pretty true to the guitar. Both pieces are white/black/white. I decided not to go the pearl route after looking at pages of 1950's white strats. Pretty much all of them had white or mint on them. Since this is a warmer creme, I decided to go with white. I think the pickups are creme so the solor scheme will be very much traditional. Need to find something new to keep me busy now that the clear has to just sit... LOL Maybe I will get Cooter's Bronco body and have another thing to paint. :)

All wetsanded. I installed the bridge and springs. I also installed the straplocks. Need the pickguard to come to do more. :)
