You could do what you have in mind... but...
In addition you could make a pickguard plate... which will achieve what you want at the same time look less crowded.
ala andrewdoeshair
Or something along the lines of this as another option:
But really a 3-point toggle would be my choice... for overall looks and use, and just sell / use the plate for something else. Kurtz taped his up for gods sake, so if it's for that reason then it's pretty lame. He could have just had the bridge humbucker and no controls or anything, which would have suited him fine, just like that stripped down mustang you were looking to emulate.
-------
I also mentioned on your version 2 thread without reply... but I also feel aesthetically a jag vol / tone control plate might look better too... !!!
-------
Either way it's your guitar and you make it how you want... but you're always going to get conflicting opinions posting a suggested post like you have. It's a discussion page after all...
If you were making a guitar for the masses then the 3 way toggle would be the obvious choice all round, but it's not... it's for you, so do what you want !!!
If everyone said they preferred black as an colour option would you go with it ? Probably not... so the same should be said for the rest. Only way to really find out how much you like it is to build it and see how you get on... like you did with the previous build. Live and learn and all that. The multi purpose route seems like a great idea for sure, so it can be altered at any stage.

I see this topic has taken a different course since this question was presented, but if you're still looking for input, I think Sherwood Green looks amazing.

I spent my tax refund on beer watching The Feelies.
Fuckers had dogfish head. I'm not drinking PBR when there's good beer.
I also didn't get much back.
Anyway, Sherwood Green.
Or Antigua. Do Antigua.
Also,
what the hell is this?

I decided I am going with a mint green guard. Now.. Sherwood Green, Candy apple red, burgundy mist, or ice blue? Hmmmm
Oh btw. I am doing this one with dual outputs too like my black jaguar but this one is going to be more hidden from the eye and stealthy hehe.

You're designing a control system that a NASA Engineer couldn't understand.

Lol. It's basically just a two output guitar. 1st output has a bridge and neck pickup. 2nd output just has a middle pickup that is always on.

I used the same/similar setup here:

Just teasing. Seriously though, have you thought about an SD triple shot ring on the HB?

Is there any thinking/useful application to second jacks and adding random stuff to your builds? Do you just want MOAR!!!?

Nope the second output was a decision I just made because my band is currently using this setup and I wanna get the most out of this guitar.
