More aesthetics really but thinking Olympic white body, maple neck & f tuners (rounded buttons), medium jumbo frets. 9.5 in neck a bit on the large size. Not a user of a reverb handle so not bothered if its hard tail. Vintage style output pickups. Alder body.

Chris, if you're thinking of making a partscaster Strat do you want a look at the USACG neck I have, it fits what you describe.

I suggest a used but rarely played MIM 2006 or newer. You will save a lot of money and you won't be disappointed.

Yesterday managed to play an American standard, American special & an American vintage 70s RI. I didn't like the neck on the standard but liked the necks on the special & AVRI. Out of the 2 the AVRI was the nicest but with a price difference of £700 it's not twice as good. The 7.25" radius & smaller frets made it feel a lot smoother for chords & it looked & felt great, makes me wonder whether that's the route to go on the neck though. Price though is another issue so off to cost up some similar necks

Will bung you a longer PM later (been giving this some thought), but the big Allparts necks are all 9.5".

Ok cool, I was going to pm and ask opinions, especially with your MJT experience. Looking around at necks not many vintage radius maples around. I look forward to the pm

I really rate the neck on the specials, bigger radius than I usually like but the neck shape is just right so it remedies that. I'm not sure it's on the specs for them but I'm pretty sure the fretboard edges are well rolles on them and it makes all the difference especially compared to something like the Mexican standards.

Put a deposit down on a surf green American special today, should be with me by the weekend

Nice Strat Lorez!

All this strat talk has got me thinking about getting mine out and playing it. I have been thinking about taking the Antiquity pickups out of it and putting the stock middle and neck in but fitting a Dimarzio FS1 at the bridge (apparently the strat equivalent of the Pre B1 that I have in my tele and really like). Does anyone have any experience with this pickup?

I love strats. I have a squier II with a E9 neck and if i could afford it i'd buy everyone of those guitars available just for the necks! I don't know what it is but that guitar plays so good.
