Cheers, happy to stick around if you'll have me :)

For the record, I'm not a business, just like making guitars I like, and then I sell them on to pay for the next ones.

Oh, and I kinda like throwing acid around and making things go rusty.

Can't take all this stuff too seriously, lets face it...

You're fusing visual and sonic art and selling it to afford more artistic opportunity.

You have my vote.

If I put a few fotos up and stuck to ones that have already been sold, would that be OK?

Wouldn't want to Spam anything ;)

OK, I'll see if I can make this work....

This is my only Mustang style one so far. Two piece swamp ash body, Allparts neck, Mojo pickups and wiring - the finish is the interesting bit as basically I make copper paint using powdered copper, and then start it corroding to the bluey colour with sulphuric acid. The finish is a few layers of wax so over time the copper will carry on corroding, like a slo-mo lavalamp.. The colours are a bit more vivid in reality.

I'm a bit of a JM nut, so there are a few of those..

This is stained yellow/red and then covered with 24karat gold leaf, which is distressed to show the stain thru..

This is similar, but uses a darker stain and copper leaf, obviously a Bigsby B5

Quite a few Teles, but this was fun as the finish I based on an old tarred JD whiskey cask (good researching that one)

Image

This was a bit weirder - semi teardrop style, with corroded bronze top..

Image

And a kinda skatercaster semi - this is hand painted with dozens of layers of pearl/opalescent paints - took forever, but turned out nice

And, well, there are loads more, but like I say it is fun :)

Right, where's me crash helmet...

That Mustang would look super sweet with a rusty gnarled chrome pickguard.

I love that second JM.

I think you and Narco Martenot from this forum would collaborate really well on some guitars.

The first jazzmaster was my favorite and I'd buy the LPJ youve got if I had the money. Really cool stuff!

Mr Jooky, you have made it to the darkside.

Nice to see you over here fella.

I'm surprised this thread has popped back up.

So anyway an update, Jooky sent me said Jazzmaster so I could check it out and see if I liked it (which was really cool of him). As I mentioned in my first post he is a top bloke. Sadly the guitar was damaged by the monkies at interparcel.
What I can is that its very pretty, I loved the shade of blue chosen (Daphne I think) 22 fret b+b neck looked great, was quite a handful.
I didn't check out the goldfoils, when I unpacked the guitar to find bits of nitro everywhere it took the magic away from the moment and became very CSI as I had to photograph it and let Mr Jooky know (which sucked balls).

So there hasn't been a trade in this instance due to the idiots @ interparcel/ups.

But I can hand on heart say Mr Jooky is awesome to deal with and a real nice bloke.
He also sells a lot of cool stuff quite often. It would be good to see him in the classifieds.

What's with the neck plate hanging off there? Have you stuck a 25 1/2" scale neck on this body and hoped it'd intonate somehow? Also, why is the pickguard all buckled and wobbly by the switches - is that just the light? The first JM seems to have a wobbly guard too.

Also, experimenting with finishes is kinda cool, but you owe it to the buyer to ensure they're at least partially stable and don't fall off the guitar if you look at them funny.

A good example of someone who does this sort of finish and material experimentation well, but also manages to put the guitars together properly, is (or maybe was) Girl Brand Guitars. Check these out if you're unfamiliar:

Although these aint necessarily my cup a tea, i do recon the relic'd jazzers look cool..and i have to admit am liking the "copper-roof-verdigris" effects...I recon if applied to stomp boxes and the like, that'd be kinda interesting...
Bird shit's a bit strong...what about Robot Acid Jizz instead? ha ha...
I'm with George on the technique thread tho...make interesting reading 8)

Thye JM's look alright, not quite my taste, but the Marauder just looks like a step too far. The copper top looks good, and I can see how it could wear in nicely naturally, but it just looks like you made a muistake and dropped something over the top of it. But like you say, different strokes.

@meltedbuzzbox - Yeah, it was a bit of a gutter about the JM - I've just about stopped wailing like a girl though, so there we are :) Think I'm going to aim to keep under 50 posts though, I can imagine the classifieds here could be dangerously tempting for one so weak

@timhulio Ah, I almost missed it - I was eagerly waiting for the forensic dissection, and there it was all the time. It was well done too - OK the Strat neck was a little silly and spoiled an overall well put together piece (it's always good to leave out what you think is your best line as they always look shoe-horned, don't they?) but overall, much appreciated. If you don't mind though, when you do the Columbo-esque 'Just-one-more-thing' - can you give it a catchy title or something? I'd hate to miss it. Anyway, love your work man... ;)

Makes some interesting reading this, and props to jooky for seemingly taking it all on the chin, answering any questions and getting into the spirit

I too am over on the fretboard and just wanted to add that jooky is a constant source if reference on there, helping out others a great deal and also (correct me if I'm wrong) knocked up a guitar for a fund raising raffle or something like that??? Pretty damned decent of him

I gotta admit his pieces aren't to my taste although I would be ALL OVER that mustang. Just the right amount of crazy on that one for me. Really hope he sticks around grand gets involved

LOL WHAT DOES THIS EVEN MEAN

It's a whole bunch of words in series that communicate no idea.
