Ha, One band I was in played at a national 'live unsigned' competition. The quarter finals were at Sheffield town hall and all the bands were hanging around with their gear in a huge corridor.
It was quite funny, all the stereotypes were intact especially with the guitar players. Bowl haircuts with 335 alikes, bespectacled nerds with Levinson Blade Strats, Ibanez Shredders, Indie Tele boys, the boutique pedal brigade...

Its just the way music is I think.
I try judge bands/players on their music rather than image, but some are evidently wankers from the off. Like that moron that laughed at my Crate Power Block then wanted to buy one after our set.

It's just a fuckin word, as long as he isn't inciting hate against someone for sexual orientation, where is the harm?

a slur is a slur. that word was and still is used to prosecute lgbt people. you can literally make the same argument for any slur and it still wouldnt make it any more correct. i personally am very uncomfortable with the use especially because it was used against me every day for an entire year before i switched schools.

Hi, I like guys and I approve the use of the word faggot. As long is its not being used hatefully I dont think there should be a problem.

define "hatefully". As in using someone's identity and sexual orientation as a pejorative, diminishing them to something unfavourable and inhuman?

Indeed.

It's not what someone means by their use of a word necessarily, but how their use of it can or would be construed.

Like people using the phrase 'paki shop' and wondering why it causes offence as they didn't mean it to be a racial slur.

It makes me uncomfortable even using it as an example!

Wasn't serious, like everyone else in the last couple o hundred years I call a bundle of sticks, a bundle of sticks... was highlighting how out of use any legitimate unoffensive use of the word was. tdgr

Back on topic
I don't really care what kit people are using. If they can handle their 40-pedal triple pedalboard setup on stage, wow. Most places I play I wouldn't have room for more than the few I do. If they've bought a load of expensive kit and can't play for toffee I'll wonder why they bothered, but I know enough good players who have PRSes that I don't consider a PRS a sign of douchebaggery. I can't justify a PRS to myself but given infinite space and money I'd have one. Artist 24 in whale blue flame-top with flying birds, so naaaah.

I don't use the word but I don't get offended when people do. Inb4 someone offended.

OT : I wouldn't say I judge a band by their board but I agree with guitarists having a "one of everything" approach and nowt getting used. I used to be like that myself, now I only have on my board what I actually use. Just mean I'm carting around a big board with not a lot on it though!

The only time I judge someone by their pedal board is at acoustic gigs when they break out the DS-1 for 'the man who sold the world' you have to be a massive cock to do that...
