Custom archtops all over his website - he doesn't sit without orders I guess. By the way I was always interested in fact that people who play some rock/country with lots of cleans prefer single coil pickups over humbuckers, but jazz players who always play on clean sound usually prefer guitars with humbuckers. Is it because humbucker gives fatter sound even when it is clean?

Yeah this exactly, they're also pretty low output humbuckers too so they don't drive the amp too hard.

OOf, that is a lot! It's crappy that they include the cost of shipping as part of the value.

At least you've got an amazing guitar.

Holy shit. But you must have been semi-prepared for the comedy tax possibility though right?!
Total around £3600 then?

That sucks, it seems that custom taxes are really high in the UK, no wonder why everything is pretty expensive. But non the less your guitar is already in the country and about to appear at your place.

I allow for them in everything I buy from the US.

The bits that sting are charging on the shipping and the £8 parcelfarce stick on top for processing it. Not too bad on something this price, but taking the piss when you pay £8 in tax then £8 for processing on a fifty quid item.

Anyway, glad its nearly with you Gabriel, I'd be beside myself with anticipation.

Yeah it's not too bad, I was expecting the tax bill. I'd kind of prepared myself for being charged even more.

It's not quite that expensive. All in I've spent around £3300. A grand of which was getting it into the UK. Luckily I got a hefty discount from Victor which is nice. So all in including delivery, it's still cheaper than one of his guitars at full price!

I'm off to Oban for a couple of days, so it should be at the Paisley depot when I return.

It was delivered yesterday and I absolutely love it! There's a little issue with the tone pot, but it's a pretty simple fix so will get that done as soon as this weeks stint of gigs is over with.

Here's a quick video to prove the guitars existence. Terrible lighting, but my flat is pretty dark!

Heres a few seconds of me playing a Kurt Rosenwinkel solo (unfortunate chin angle).

GOD DAMNED SON!
sounds twice as good as it looks, and it looks killer as fuck.
totally worth what you paid in my opinion, even with the comedy import tax

looking at all the build picks i'd say its easily comparable to my custom shop es-339 except probably made with more care and love for the instrument

(aside: i've never understood how they work out the import costs, or why the hell the % appears to not be consistent at all. mind shipping into canada doesn't end up with it often, more so when used fedex/ups then canada post/purolator/royal mail/usps. I've only been hit iwth it once on guitar stuff, a neck from new jersey, but get hit with it at random on electronic purchases of used games, and only when it goes through some random company ebay suggests we use cuz they take care of it all, can usually cost me 2-3x as much, plus the tax.)

Those are some sick jazz chops. It always impresses me how softly jazz players can pick.
