I had several go and stopped using D'Addarios, went back to Rotosound Pink.

I never break strings, the only thime they ever come apart is D'Addrio high e unwinding. It happened to me 2 days ago. Great strings apart from that. 10 Gauge on a Jag so it's not like theres loads of tension on the strings or anything. I've used them since I started playing but I think I'm gonna make a change. It just happens far too often and I don't really want to have to solder every set I put on.

So then, these 7's

The best way I can explain the feel is in standard tuning, you feel like you've drop tuned. Quite low, like C#.
It's a bit bizarre, a fair difference to 8's.
Not played them plugged in yet but acoustically they are just as loud. String bending is effortless. Wide vibrato (think Hendrix) is easy to do as well.

I think if you play mostly lead or suffer with hand problems like arthritis or carpal tunnel, these could be a godsend.

They're certainly fun but I've got a feeling open strings will go slightly sharp if you dig in with the pick. Same as 8's. Not ideal if you use open drone notes.

Also, I was a bit apprehensive tuning up that 7 string, it's like angel hair!

Are there even strings on that guitar? I can't see them!

Tried it plugged in. Sounds damn good, but this Tele does anyway, and surprisingly the open strings don't go sharp.
But 8's do on the SG. Maybe it's as much down to scale/design as the strings?

The G, B and E are barely existent though, a bit too fine for me to be honest. I'm over bending notes and double checking if I'm actually fretting a string.

I'll keep them on for a while but I think 8's are my limit with fine gauge.

No it's the Telebastard. It ended up standard with a gold anod guard.

Still got the main bunch but hardly play most of them. Only really use the Teles and the Duo, besides recent purchases, the Sheraton and SG.

I'm settled on the Tele to be honest but they can't do everything. I missed humbuckers, I like to play along to some classic rock stuff.

I fight with my guitars, and mostly play in Drop C so I play Power Slinkies and Beefy Slinkies depending on what mood I'm in that month.

Sounds fun, Fran. Not sure I could go that loose though! Might string a Strat up with 8s, though.

I was a GHS user for years, but now find myself using D'addario 10 gauge with the wound 3rd.

I also tried the Flatwounds briefly, but wasn't my thing.
