this is a lil bit of fret work that i have done until i figure something out about the dots.
i figured i would post up the how for it before i get lazy and forget.
this is the fret wire.
Image
this is the first fret set in and the second in mid pound.
Image
this is the fret clamp i will be using.
Image (it makes it a bit easier to get a universal snug fit.
the depth for the frets in lower than the tang so i filled them with a bit of super glue,
this helps the sustain and keeps the neck from warping due to empty space.
Image
this is me rasping the frets to give them an initial crown.
Image
the second fret has been set and pre-crouned with a rasp, the first one has not, can you tell the difference.
Image
Image
Image
and i will repeat all of these for all the frets before i level them, crown them and give them a good dressing. all nice and shiny.

fretting bitches!!!!!
i laid all of my frets and got them close to the fretboard(on the side)
Image
then i taped off all of my exposed fretboard.
Image
then i colored the tops of the frets black/blue.
Image
then i took my sanding block and leveled them all until there was no visible blue/black left on the top of the frets.
Image
now i need to take my crown file(which i have lost) and re crown them.
and then take them down to 1200 grit sandpaper.

Nice work, dude. But aren't you gonna have problems with the strings catching on each other or the machineheads?

i am going to make lil bobbins.
basically im gonna put a screw in, notch it, smooth it out and cut out the head.
ima make 6 for each string and arrange them in a line much like the tuners but opposite.
its another one of those things that you will just have to wait and see.

Looks great, but what's that intentation around all the tuners on that pic doog posted on the front face, looks pretty ugly...

YOU ARE MAKING GUITARS! That is so cool. I think this is the Sputnik in the race to get into space between you and Aug. Does he not know about the big purse that's riding on this contest? Yeah, it's empty, but still.

I am not worried about any of the design issues because that is how you learn. I am a little concerned about your taste, and surprised there are books in your house! Just kidding. Good for you. Installing frets is like breaking the sound barrier.

I agree. While I really like the project, and it all genuinely looks good, its not the sorta thing I would go for. :)

all of these specs minus a few are for someone, they tell me what they want and then give me money.
if you noctice, the pics with the tuners is where i dug out the channel for them. Its like a slope thing.
and then there is a few pics after it has been sanded down.
i figure. you see curves all over a guitar and body, but some places you never see them, like on the top of the headstock.
expecially in this fashion.
i have one more round of laquer to do tonight before i can wait another 24 hours, level sand it, and buff the shit out of it.
icey, im not sure what you said but ok.
oh for anyone that cares.
i can now get ash cheeper than basswood.
if anyone wants a blank of ash, i will sell you a 14 by 16 inch piece for like 50 bones or something, i don;t have it yet tho, i gotta wait for northwest lumber to give me a call, which should be in the next week or so.
what was that about a purse?>

i am 100 percent done with the body.
i made the back plates today and did some final touch up work on the inside.

awesome job so far, and you made the right choice with the pickups.

the normal strat back plate is too boring,
so i made one up with some custom touches.
i expeiremented with have the control plate mesh with it,
and the "qtr round" on the plate was done by hand very carefully.
i made the cuts more severe and less severe in certain spots to show off/ hide the black line in the plastic.
its an eccentric guitar, you think ima put something that looks normal on there? fuk no! if everything about the guitar is willy nilly then i will make everything willy nilly.
it does the design of the whole thing justice.
once i get it all done you will see the full picture and i garentee you that it will come together.
its like a puzzle.
just one piece looks fuct up, but the whole thing, with all the peices looks right.
you will see, just wait.
