Cher didn't use a vocoder for that song, she messed around with an auto-tune device.
I'm pretty sure that I saw an Imogen Heap interview where she said she didn't use a vocoder either. Something to do with a harmoniser. But I don't know much about either of them.

Modest Mouse made me want to have a Fernandes Sustainer.

Animal Collective made me want to try everything.

Bright Eyes - Digital Ash Again, made me want to try everything.

the Cure Made me want a chorus.

I still don't really own many effects though.

That explains a lot of the "AMAZING IMPOSSIBLE FEEDBACK WORK"

Yes, the Fernandes Sustainer pickup. So, it's not a pedal, but I mentioned it because it's still an effect.

Supergrass - Ebow.

QOTSA - Well, unknown coz he rarely reveals his equipment. But some of those synth noises he gets are awesome.

Trent Reznor - Cubase.

Jimi Hendrix- Bold As Love

The Tape Flange on that outro is nothing but pure inspiration. The bulk of the song is of course Hendrix in his typical brilliance.

Smashing Pumpkins-Love

That fuzzy flange effect is just one part that highlights the angst of this awesome track.

The Cure-Lullaby

Pretty pretty chorusy delay. The Cure, 'nuff said.

The Clash-Straight to hell
I don't know what's it take to make such beautiful sound, but it's an awesome song.

Badly Drawn Boy- Once Around the Block
The acoustic in sync with a envelope wah effect in this song is gorgeous. Most of the sounds in this album are just as effective.

Sparta-Breaking the Broken

I love this band's use of delayed, overdriven verses.Their use of flange in this one is pretty cool too.

Limp Bizkit- My Way

I'm prepared to take shit for admitting this, but I love Wes Borland's work. He put the Ibanez' CF7 warp'd mode into work to make an extremely clean ring modulation. I love love this pedal. Great tone for a band with such a dumb image.

Korn-No way
Another one of those bands. I really don't like Korn, and I know people hate this album... but I do think Issues was pretty creative tone-wise. They manage to stuff ALOT of effects in one song.

Incubus- Have you Ever
I love the delayed, slightly overdriven phaser riff around the 2 min mark of this song. I guess I'm digging my grave for listing these bands. but I love incubus.

Red Hot Chili Peppers- This is the Place/Throw away your televison
I really dug the tone of this album, but I love the effect usage in both of these tracks. Theres some sort of phaser/chorus/vibrato craziness in "place" and some sequenced wah from the line 6 filter modeler in "television"

Bloc Party-Two More Years
The delay and slow phaser in this song is really effective in showing the dreariness expressed in the song. Awesome bridge of emotion and technology. I actually had a mini talk w/ kele last year about effect pedals. He was looking into a whammy of all things. There's a lot pitch shifting in some of the newer stuff but im sure it can be his Ps-5. He was looking into some other brands of pedals. I mentioned zvex to him. Seemed interested enough.

I have to second Sonic Youth for "The Diamond Sea" and The Smith's "How soon is now"

Think he uses an EH Microsynth.
