WHA?
I was thinking about those crappy things made of plywood or worse that are sold in mail order catalogues. An extreme example maybe, but still...lousy quality wood is bound to cause problems like warping, structural weak spots and so on. Again, unlikely but yeah.
ah, i see. thought you meant between like, alder or poplar or something. it tends to be the necks that warp on those cheapo guitars, you can make a guitar body from just about anything. look at danelectros, for example. pine and hardboard.

To be honest, I've been getting tired of surf green a bit. At this point I'd rather have the white Jag and a sonic blue JM.

Is it too early to guess what aftermarket guards will fit the Jag?

On OSG, everyone's saying the avri guards fit

Hard Maple:
This wood “shouts. It is loud with a strong upper midrange, bright highs, and tapered off but very tight lows. A pickup that produces good lows will find them in a Hard Maple body, but they will be tight and will not interact with a loud half stack.
There's that
wonderful phrase again.

I believe this is correct. AVRI guards fit the old Squier Jazzies.

I'm liking the Jag better than the JM, but god do they sound different. Honestly, if your main amp is bright go for the JM and if it's dark go for the Jag. If it's in between, you have a tough choice to make.

Still, only additional guitar I'd really want someday is a vintage or maybe Avri/TS Jag ... having a job made me a snob, maybe. But maybe it's better for me to want something I can't just buy without planning and sacrificing something else. Life would be boring if everything was available as easy as a Squier Jaguar.
If you can afford an AVRI, MIJ, or Squier you shouldn't just choose the most expensive. It's not necessarily better. I like the feel of the neck on my new Squier better than the one on my old AVRI. Sometimes life can be surprising.

Life would be boring if guitars were made available at a range of prices to suit different people. Got it.

I hate wood/tone discussions
This stuff is probably true for acoustic instruments but electric signals are just fucking signals and are probably going to be manipulated by a shit ton of effects on any piece of recorded music anyway

Having a great guitar in at a highly affordable price point is stupid, especially from a business perspective. Why would you want to make money on something that is popular?

i compared the new squier mustang bass with a fender japan and a fender musicmaster us (74). I prefer the squier!!! crazy; for the neck, the sustain and the sound (more close to a precision bass)

Jut did an image search now over the last 24 hours and brought up this place of all places, with real picture of mustang.

Popped by Denmark Street after work, they've just had delivery of some VM Mustangs, Jaguars and Jazzmasters today. I was quoted £269, sounds like a deal. Tort pickguards looked a bit shit though.

£255 is the going rate on these, so not so much of a deal ? I know it's Denmark St, so perhaps that's what you meant.
I'll be getting a deal through work so I'm content.

Looks totally legit except the control plate gap. Want. I will have one of these for sure. That red looks great but I will probably go vintage white.

I think the slab body / '65 reissue had a gap between the guard and the control plate, so yeah it is more legit than you thought.
