it's been anyoning recently as all my recording software is for pc. i had ableton, pro tools, logic 5.5 and soundforge. plus all the plugs in and the like.
now i'm using garageband as i can't find my mac pro tools disc, my ableton disc isn't mac friendly and logic is 319 quid!!!.

i got a hooky basic logic 7 off limewire or mininova, all you need is someone who's willing to give you some plugins.
right, plugged in the OCD, and as predicted, it's a beast! i might keep the tubescreamer on the board for the glassy tone i get from it, set the distortion pro to 'face melt' and use the OCD as an in-betweeny heavy OD type thing. highly chuffed with the results, big thanks yous for putting it together mikey boy, top work!

No worries mate, glad you're liking it. I love that pedal, really fantastic JCM800 sounds. Unfortunately it doesn't get on with my Marshall for some reason, it's insanely bassy, but the Oranges, Voxes and Fenders really love the OCD.

yeah, it'd be like marshall squared or something.
it basically means i'll have a much wider choice of sounds, not to mention the fact that the pink LED makes it teh utter sex...
result!

It was worth waiting for I think. I got a few so hopefully pink LED waiting times will be a thing of the past now.
That case you got is also the nicest box I've ever got - I love the curved corners on it. I order Hammond Boxes from a variety of places, but a few different people make them to Hammond's specs, and this one is made by a company that made it pretty. I've never had one like that before or since, they look like the Big Muff one normally.

yeah, it does look nice with the curves. i can't imagine it'll stay pristine white for too long, but that's 'mojo' for you.

you know, if mike ever made a delay and a tuner, then my pedal board would be 100% mike pedals.
started using a little chorus again these days, dug out the old ce-5.
what kind of chorus could you make mike, or is that heading for headache central.

Oh fuck again. Sorry Mike. And everyone else.
Mike wrote:I can either make a new box or I was thinking I would make the tone of the second tone settable by a tone control. So the footswitch in the tone bypass state is unaffected by the knob, and with the knob at full when you switch the tone switch you get the original Tone2, but you can also tweak Tone2 if you want - what do you think? Or I could make it a second volume control (a master - the balance is in the middle of the circuit).
Even though I shouldn't have the gall to show my face in this thread for a while, can I point out that this is a fantastic idea? The main gripe people have with superfuzzes (apart from "Why can't they have even bigger, even more vintage correct casings?") is that the tone setting for tone one tends to sound pony for tone two, and vice versa. Would it be possible to have separate tones for each side of the circuit, or is that crazy talk?

Well on the originals it's just a switch between a complete bypass of any tone network and going through a fixed tone filter stage. There isn't a tone control, only Balance (volume) and Expander (Fuzz) - you could make the volume specific to each tone but not the Fuzz, which is before the tone network.
I was looking at making the second tone control settable. There are two resistors in the network, and I could piggy back a pot onto one of them easier to make the tone slightly tuneable. I'll do and experiment and see how it sounds, I think this is a cooler idea than the master volume I guess. If you set this pot to max, it will be out of the circuit effectively.
It's a nasty sounding fuzz. Very aggressive. Completely different to any other fuzz I've made so far.
Stop apologising, you haven't cost me or anyone anything. It was me that kicked on and starting building stuff. It's all gravy.

Tuner would definitely be out. And the same with delay really, all I would be able to do is put together a BYOC delay I think. Too complicated for stripboard, mightaswell just buy a kit and build it.
Chorus is pretty much the same boat I think.

This is a pretty good example of it. You can see how crazy complicated the circuit is in this video and above on my board.

You're a mentalist.
Like I said, if stuff calms down I'll doubtless just build you one. Shit is insane at the moment. 5 irons is a lot to keep in the fire.

i don't mind how the tone control works, it'd be cool to have a bit of play in it.
as long as it sound like these kinda of lead tones, i don't mind. i'm well excited!!!!!!!
i don't mind waiting for the next one bencol, if you want this one.

That's kind of you, but I have no money. Zero. Fuck all. I do have a lovely fuzzface, however, so don't weep for me like I'm Lady Di, Princess of Hearts, or anything...
PM me your dates for St Ives - was talking to Mrs Benecol about it, and she was going to come up with the names of some places etc.

I tested the Saltbooster, Cot50 and Box Of Mike and they all work. PLayed with teh superfuzz tone idea and I think I'm going to implement a "Patented By Dwarfcraft Devices" Starve control instead with a 1K pot to give you the gated fuzztones. The tone stuff didn't didn't sound all that great to me, the switch gives you two nice options as it is. When the Starve is on Max it will be out of the circuit.

Did you test it with any higher values? Some stuff works with 5k or more, too. TGD has 2k, Shiva 5k. Defiance also has 5k.

Yeah I played with a few pots. 1K seemed optimal for this circuit.
