The bloke who bought my Scrambler in the great house move fire sale had a studio over that way - I'm guessing it's the same chap.

He didn't mention that pedal, his name is Simon and his studio website is - http://www.studioklank.co.uk/ - is it the same guy?

Man I hate Wood Green, such a dump.

For a studio that charges £150 a day i'm more willing to go to such an insalubrious area.

Yep he's a really sound dude. The studio is in the Chocolate Factory which is loads of artists' studios, small industrial units, a couple of music studios and even a posh restaurant. It's pretty cool, and Simon's studio has some ace equipment. We Sailplanes had a little tour recently when I dropped a pedal off. I'm still considering moving Fredric Effects to a unit there if/when it grows too big for the flat. I think there's an open day this weekend, but that might just be the art spaces.

That's not to say though, that on whole Turnpike Lane and Wood Green aren't total dumps.

Lastly, new Demon Fuzz boards! Now if only the correct knobs would arrive from Smallbear I could do a demo and start selling them. The white pedal has the old style etched PCB that I've decided not to use, whereas the green one has the new board.

Very swanky. Is that a via I spot on the Demon Fuzz - go back to the drawing board!

My PCBS for IC Muffs, Green/RAM Muffs and Dream Box rev2s turned up so I'm itching to build some of them up also.

Tee-hee. I do sometimes try to hide the vias under resistors for neatness.

Are you getting yours from BatchPCB too? I thought I'd use them for small batches to make sure the boards work fine, then switch to Olimex in Bulgaria because at a glance they seem better value.

Those pedals are looking 'proper job' Tim, how long before a Fredric effects factory in China?

Yup, I just ordered my LOLYCHORUS (thank Doog for the name) boards also today as it's payday. I'm using BatchPCB for these early smallish batches because they work out most cost effective - I'll have to have a look at Olimex for some quotes also if you reckon they're competitive.

I've been doing pricing up for my various designs and it's pretty fucking odd, the UK based companies charge a tooling fee up front for first batch (fair enough) but in some cases the per unit cost from Batch PCB is cheaper than the per unit cost from a UK supplier, so there is never any point ordering from a UK company, even after tooling is not charged you're paying more per unit - plus Batch PCB have doubled up my order units both times I've got things from them, which is fantastic service.

Yep. Also the service I've had from UK companies has been woeful. Taking weeks to get back to me with quotes etc. I know I'm only a small business, but geez.

Only downside with BatchPCB (who've also doubled the quantities on orders I've made with them = ace) is the one month turnaround.

Just normal eagle plastics fluted ones, but Small Bear sent me 100 of the wrong size (teeny-tiny ones). Actually it's a bit of a bugger as I'll have to source some locally at double the cost until the replacements arrive. The knobs on the pedals at the moment are Chinese fakeys- almost as good, but not quite!

Yup, it is a bit of a bummer waiting for them to arrive (plus the stress of whether they work when you're doing a new PCB design) but they're currently my best option also.
