There's no reason why you couldn't play heavy music with a Mustang and the right amp or a boost pedal in line with a decent distortion pedal.

this is bollocks, unless you specifically mean 69RI pickups. even then, i've seen people use them to good effect.weeping_moon wrote:Mustang pickups are weak sounding. Not for rock or heavy playing..
All my mustangs sounds fine after i changed the pickups it helped for me and thats not bollocks talk. I use my mustangs 100% after the pickup change. Before i was not playing mustangs at all because i didnt like the sound from them. I play most from rock, clean to metal and alternative and it sounds great for me.stewart wrote:this is bollocks, unless you specifically mean 69RI pickups. even then, i've seen people use them to good effect.weeping _moon wrote:Mustang pickups are weak sounding. the guy from holy mountain uses a mustang sometimes, and they're plenty heavy.

Are there no problems tuning a guitar with a floating trem down to D? It'd cause the other strings to go out of tune on my Jag-stang.Mike wrote:Um, not really. I play in drop D all the time with my Mustang and Jaguar. I use 11s (like most shortscale users) and they handle it fine. You could always slap a '12 E string on there if you experience any wobble.
My Jaguar should be turning up tomorrow...
Ha that's my old Cimar mustang copy. Those pickups were weak as fuck, something like 3k each, but still sounded amazing when distorted.stewart wrote:this is bollocks, unless you specifically mean 69RI pickups. even then, i've seen people use them to good effect.weeping_moon wrote:Mustang pickups are weak sounding. Stewart locked my Mustang trem I think. I imagine if you want to tune down you would have to do the same.BacchusPaul wrote:Are there no problems tuning a guitar with a floating trem down to D?
