Thanks Mike! If I were being fussy I'd put some cable ties on the wiring, but seeing as people aren't meant to poke around in there (no battery) they're not needed.

I think the only way you could make it even neater is to use a ribbon cable for the connections to the footswitch, splay the wires for connections to the PCB, and then loop it under the PCB between two of the pots and then straight down to the footswitch

Fairly regular customer came into the shop yesterday with one of your pedals; singing its praises. Was nice to see.... amongst strymon's and other high end pedals.

I collected some more boards this morning. Possibly the last lot I'm getting from BatchPCB as I've found a new place that's quicker and better value for larger quantities.

Husk(er)y Wolf boards. These are tweaked beige-box MXR Dist+ clones with a germanium/silicon diode switch. Board mounted switch and pots.



Used transistor arrays to fit an FY2 companion and FY6 superfuzz on one board. One switch chooses FY2 or FY6, the other is the tone switch on the superfuzz. The dual pot is the tone control for the FY2 and the fuzz control of the FY6, and the volume pot is shared. This took soooo long to put together in Eagle, and I fucked the first prototype boards because I didn't realise pin 13 on the arrays needed to be grounded. It works good now though, so I'll chuck it in a box and demo shortly.

Tim the companion/superfuzz is no in production or still prototype? Colour me interested in this when it's all up and running, looking forward to the demoz

Well, these are production boards. Nothing will change on the board from now-on, but there's no artwork for the enclosures yet so this first pedal will be in a plain box. Hoping to have a rudimentary demo up this weekend.

How are you dealing with the m@j@ tone loss from moving to integrated transistors?

I'm devastated at their tendancy to physically leak mojo when you most want to wail on guitar.

I can only compare the FY-2 bit as I've not got an FY-6 or clone around at the moment, but it sounds a dead-on match with the 2N3904s I use in that. My only worry now is that Retro Channel will sue my ass for using their 'proprietary chipset'.

Juist skimmed this whole topic. Was a great read. Watched some awesome demo's. This site would appear to have some top notch indie pedal designers/producers or what ever you want to call yourselves. Several of interest in here.

Also, that Christian of a certain rock and roll band? (Dunno if it's OK to name them) If it is I'm sure I bought his Tech 21 Double Drive a few years ago. I was delighted as I liked his band.

I've found a new board supplier! The lengthy turnaround time using BatchPCB was doing my nut, so I used Seeed Studio for these and they took 2-3 weeks rather than an average of 5. Quality is good too.

Green Muffs are back in stock thanks to all these boards, and this first new batch of Grumbly Wolves uses white boards, just because I can!

Are the Grumbly Wolves getting a case makeover as well, new graphics? Or are you sticking with the last run's design?

Yes, although we haven't got the artwork yet. The laser-cut metal relief on the last 20 or so Grumbly Wolves was cool, but not very practical!

Cool - I'm still using BatchPCB and making sure I recorder in plenty of time.

How do these guys compare to the BatchPCB pricing (considering Batch always double up your boards?)

They're less than half the price of BatchPCB, even allowing for the doubling of the number of boards. I'd have to check my original order, but I'm pretty sure these guys sent me more boards than I ordered too.
