I mentioned this to one of the sales guys in there & he stated that they're encouraging people to buy Mustang bridges from them as an add-on (which is probably all well & good if you have no experience with these bridges, or favour light-gauge strings)
Why on earth would they recommend that? The radius is wrong. The VM Mustang doesn't even come with Mustang saddles.

No idea. The fact that they can't be bothered to even take a bash at intonating their shop stock doesn't inspire me with confidence as to their attention-to-detail. At least they're not charging over the odds on these to buy them in-store (£255 either through their website or to buy one there). It's like any large guitar shop I guess.....too much stock to pay attention to each individual instrument that passes through.

lorez wrote:Great review mike, I think we need a session of guitar playing coming up soon with our amps/guitars/etc and we could then do a compare of your jag & my JMJM as well as our old vintage ones, it will be a great shoot out. I'm really wanting one of these jags though
Defo, although the only amp I have in brizzle is my Mustang I haha

Got my sunburst in today, really happy with it.

Few things

- Like Mike said, neck is really dry, but nothing a bit of lemon oil can't sort out.

- Stock strings aren't too bad for me, but I plan to change them to 11s later on.

- The pickups are lovely, I've not owned a jag before, but it's a lot warmer and bassier than I was expecting. Gets nicely trebly with the cut switch in though. Sounds good through my musicmaster bass, with no noticeable noise.

- Tremolo is stiff, I can't seem to get the arm to sit right, but I'll open it up to sort out when I change strings.

- The tort isn't the nicest I've ever seen, but it'll do for now. If you like your tort, you may disagree.

- The finish is great, the burst looks good to me, very happy.

- The knobs are really plasticy and flimsy, but again, no big deal to change.

I plan on giving it a proper setup tonight, but it plays okay out of the box.

That jag looks fantastic. The grain of the body is really interesting. Let us know how you get on with it when it's set up!

The tort looks a bit shite.

I think it looks fine. You can spend double the price to get this on a CIJ if you like...

But who really cares that much.

I don't mind shite tort because it's tort and tort is shite so it makes absolutely no difference to me as I'd be taking the tort off anyway whether it was "shite" tort or "not-shite" (still shite) tort.

My mustang arrived at the shop, sadly I'm 100s of miles away as I'm holiday up north... but my colleague took a few shots for me.

Can't wait to play it !! :D

Yup, way better than the CV Jazz bass which is fucking honking

Old tort is lush but this stuff and the CIJ and AVRI stuff is not bad and pretty similar

Nice guitars guys! Love the mustang tuners!
