I wouldn't have any problem admitting the squier was better if it was . . .

the classic vibe teles I've owned blow the MIM teles I've owned out of the water.

A Duo Sonic?
let me be clear in stating i was genuinely curious, and this is the only one that was legit. i guess besides the jagmaster, which is basically comparable to the blacktop jaguar (or even the VM jaguar) with a trem, or the blacktop jazzmaster in terms of scale length. i think calling it something radically different other than a mutt of other fenders is babies.

any other strats, teles, and the like is a wash. they're not their own instruments. they're rip-offs with minor variations of fender designs that are currently available. the jaguar bass included.

also, the m-80 is not still in production that i could find. neither is the semi-hollowbody squier, the starfire.

The Starfire was a DeArmond-branded guitar (based on the Guild Starfire) introduced by Fender after they acquired both brands, so I always figured the Squier ones were just them getting rid of all the bits they could after they killed the Dearmond guitars. The DeArmonds were awesome, they were MIK but wired/set-up in the Corona factory with great pickups, and priced like Epiphones.

How about the Supersonic? It's not in production anymore but I don't think Fender released anything like that.

Anyway, I have the new J Mascis (for about a week and a half now) and I love it! Some parts feel a bit cheap-ish but I really like the neck and I dig the pickups as well. I was surprised that the neck felt much wider than the one on my tele or jag though.

(This is my first post BTW!)

And yet Sweetwater still doesn't have any. :(

I have one on order from Sweetwater. Not exactly sure when mine is arriving yet...just sent a follow-up email.

I don't care for the gold guard in the stock photos, but the HC Review picks look much better, more like a 50's LP Goldtop kinda gold. Very sweet. The Aged white with the gold is a great combo.

The only thing I can see changing is potentially the Trem, or trem baseplate. Purely a vanity thing as I like to see the Fender logo on that to give it some visual interest.
The pickups may be a candidate as well, we'll see how they sound.

I also have one of the Gator Jag/Jazz cases on order.

Well, you're one closer in line. I cancelled my order and placed it with the Austin place to get the 10% discount.

I wish it did! That would look better than plain, which just makes it look more obviously imported.

I saw one of these in the guitar shop yesterday, first time. Very impressive but bizarre to see a new Jazzmaster priced below £350, perhaps because it is accurate unlike the other Squier Jazzys and Jags.
If i see the PARPLE SPARKLEZ model its going to be difficult to not get the credit card out.
