take 50 cents.
and throw it out your window while driving to work, if you can prove that you did that then i shall send you 2 string trees still in the allparts package.

good tip mate! thanks!

man, i'm getting bonedoggers about this guitar again...!!! i'm on the verge of having a tele! woohoo!

just want to thank mickie, rob(og) and ludger for being so awesome to me. mickie gave me a SMOKIN' deal on the body, and ludg and rob have donated a decal and string trees respectively. that makes me hot and sweatty like a school girl.

No probs James.

Typical thread hijack:

How accurate does the string tree placement have to be? Can you just eyeball/guesstimate it or will that cause your guitar to explode and splinter into 2,343 pieces?

Tuner machines slot in from underneath the headstock. On the headstock face side then put on the washer and finally screw the nut into place. Do it tight and that will hold the tuner in place. I do like that method.

You have to drill holes for the little tits sticking out the back. What I did was set them in the correct position then tap with a hammer.Just enought to leave a mark,it doesn't take much.Put some tape around the drill bit again to prvent going too deep. It's a little tricky drilling those holes in the right spot.If you use to big of a bit or the holes are not in close enought to the tuner hole, you will be able to see the holes(don't ask how I know)..Just make sure those little holes are right where you want them to be before you drill.
If you try tightening the nut down to make the pin marks As you tighten down on the nut you'll see the pins on an angle and if you do drill where the mark is, it will be wrong and you will see the hole(again don't ask how I know).

Don't remember but don't use too big a bit..Snug fit will do.
If you really don't want to drill too deep You can grind those little tiities down a bit. They'll still do the job.

so, i have the tuning pegs installed. and i should've listened to bassintom because i fucked up and there's now a nice hole straight through my headstock next to my low E! oh well...it's the only hole...so i don't mind. the tuning pegs are straight...far as i can tell. and i got me a string tree at an impromptu guitar store run...so i'm almost done..pics to come...i'm gonna put the logo that ludger sent me on maybe this weekend...i'll put pics up later...in the future i'm definitely gonna just buy a neck w/ tuners...cuz it's nerve-wracking to me...i mean, i think i did a good job considering this is the second time in 13 years of playing i've attempted to do this...but i'm not a craftsman, so it's not near as perfect as you other duders could do..

i know this is worthless w/o pics...so i'll get some going asap.

could you put a little wood filler in the hole, then tape around the hole after the filler dries and sand it down flush? LIke I did on the coronado?
