I took my guitar out to my brilliant Dutch uncle (built his own house, built a tractor from scratch, etc.) and he figured out the problem. The lead switch was wired wrong. I couldn't find any good pics of what was going on there. Also, the diagram was confusing (to me), particularly this part:

Image

I didn't know which wire should attach where in the middle. My uncle figured it out and now everything works right.

The guitar still needs a good set-up. The action is way too high and the whole thing sounds a little "off". The neck pickup sounds good, together they sound pretty good (a bit too biting) and the neck pickup sounds like I stepped on a wah and left it a little short of full on treble. The pickup heights seem really low so that might be part of the reason. Mikes Salt Boost sounds fucking ACE with the P-90's (even better than my Teles)

Anyway, here are some pics. It hasn't been too sunny around here lately so maybe I'll grab some more pics when the sun returns but you can see final product. I felt like a big nerd taking pics of my guitar 'cause my neighbour was watching me.

A Rumors-like lawn montage:

You can see my one major sand-through in the contour. I'll probably fix that later.

Tex-czech, I'm already thinking of switching the black covers to white ones. If I do, and you're still interested you can have them. I'll let you know of my final decision.

Next up, my very first electric guitar, a 1989 Squier II Strat, MIK. I had lent it to a friend of mine for a couple years but I've got it back now and am going to paint it. Right now it's black. Haven't decided on what colour to go with next.

p.s. Thanks robert(og) for the super bro deal on this machine. I would not have considered doing this if it weren't for your generosity. Also thanks everyone for the tips and encouragement.

Great work. The matching headstock really makes it.

The knobs stand out a lot, but in a good way I think.

That's verrrrry pretty. Set that shit up!

I actually like the white witch hats on there, didn't even notice until James mentioned them. I suppose black ones are a million times easier to aquire if you ever change your mind... not sure on my opinion regarding a white pickup cover swap-out though, I dig the all-black look against the guitar's finish.

Thanks for the kind words all. I managed to snap some pics as the sun came out for what seems like the first time this summer:

Here's a colour comparison between the Ocean Turquoise and ReRanch's Sherwood green. Pretty close. It depends on the angle you look at the Sherwood. The metal flakes are much larger than the OTM.

And in honour of the Wings, I found this patch on ebay and sewed it on my strap:

ha, thanks. My secret was not to think too much about it. Once I started there was no turning back.

Absolutely gorgeous, dude.

And thanks again for scoring me the Reranch goods, you rock!

Now if only I could find a suitable place to actually do the painting... :(

Superb.

Apparently black is this season's urinated vintage parchment. I dig.
