seem a bit pointless to me.

Can the Jag/JM bridge be set up in a perfectly stable way? Yes. Could it still be improved on? Probably.

Is dropping a TOM in the thing any sort of answer? NO.

Not that it really matters, as Fender Japan has made multiple models of the Jag/JM with buckers, TOMs etc. already... But still. If you see how much the bridge actually rocks on the Jag, it's easy to see why putting a fixed bridge on the guitar is a dodgy idea. Though probably not as boneheaded as a TOM on a Mustang.

And that brings up the big point: Oh yeah, CIJ axes exist, even if they're hard to come by, they're still cheaper than these things, come in better colors, what have you...

As for the trem location, it'll probably make them sound different and wasn't really needed, but hell, I did the same thing on my Telecaster/Jazzmaster thing (though more for aesthetic than functional reasons) and it still seems to sound reasonable...

IMO, the Jag doesn't need a larger radius, the short scale makes bends easy as hell anyway

I'm sure whatever they did to secure the trem arm is a great idea, and probably going to make those units sell for a shitload on ebay once these things are parted out.

Judging by what is given about the neck on the new jazzmaster, what is it most comparable to? Is it similar to the AVRI necks?

It's more similer the "ThinSkin" Jazzmasters or the J. Mascis than the AVRI.

Here's another rare moment that I agree with you. It's an off-shelf guitar. If folks don't like the fingerboard radius, Fret size, profile, color or electronics, go to warmoth and have one special made to your specs. I understand being picky. That's why I own parts guitars that I put together so they'd be exactly what I want. I always tell people that are picky to not buy off-shelf guitars.

you guys can complain all you want, but this is more relevant to my interest than say, changing the saddles on the american standard tele. There is nothing wrong about these MIMs. <3 <3 MIM necks. They feel like they can KILL. It offers something significantly different from AVRIs and CIJS. I realllly want one but can't really justify it, as much as having an authentic Fender GRUNGUAR would be awesome. Jagmaster on steroids. The tuneomatic was hard to deal with on the Jmascis jazzy but the one on the CIJ Jag i got off bubbles is flawless.

I cant believe the negative reception these are getting.

Sublimedo confirms why they are a good idea, some people love MIM necks and larger frets, flatter radius, humbuckers, etc...
Anyone would think they are gonna completely discontinue the whole AVRI and CIJ range replacing them with these MIM's.

I think a Buzzstop WILL fit that- it only juts out the front of the tailpiece plate a lil' bit.. although not sure how it would play with the TOM?

That said, the Mascis Jazzy had a TOM and tremmed fine.

And screw in trem= less problems pushing that fucker in/bending the collet thing = good.

I lurv Ultra. I was going the other way with wanting to swipe sink and toilet hardware to put on a guitar. My sink faucet stopper handle looks like a small Mosrite knob.

I agree with Mike. I know purists will hate it, but purists don't like the Baja tele either and it is a great guitar. Also, although not fond of the standard cheap mexi necks, the re-issues and the baja, custom, etc have great necks. For 799, I assume the same will be true for the Jazzy
