Thanks guys.
Obviously the neck will need a shim now i've opted for the TOM.
I got a lot of the components on the SP and Control plate tonight, i'm getting impatient to play it now. I used 500k mini alpha pots, i got an orange drop cap too (humbucker value) and a sideways Jazzy 3-way switch.
My router would'nt take the control cavity deep enough so the sooner the new one comes the better.

I got it all wired up, all ready to go. Just need to fit two Mustang vanity switches then its a case of stringing this bitch up.

A couple of minus points:
1/ TOM is gold so that needs changing
2/ Control plate is brushed Aluminium or something so it does'nt match the trem.

Other than that i am really happy with how its turned out so far. A few pics..

How's the weight of it? Heavier than a normal one by some distance?

They are similar James. To be honest the control cavities are 30mm deep and the pup/3-way one combined is large. I purposefully removed a lot of timber to get the weight down and it also meant less jig work.

Rofl, I reckon it's a Blue Peter situation and he's been doing it for months. Looks great, Fran! :D I'm very miffed that those switches haven't got to you, though.

That God T-O-M is basically so heinous I want to die but because it's Fran's guitar it is perfectly acceptable.

Hahahah.. "God TOM". Definitely. Prefer that to Gold.
It was never intended to be permanent but i might keep it for lulz.

I know Jon, i've just browsed for switches and it appears Maplin dont stock that size. On ebay if the seller can stick the word Jazzmaster or Mustang in on the title it seems to bump the price up 3 times more than any other switch

Thanks Lamp.

I really, really think it needs to be a color... Unless you can get it like, clearcoat shiny with the wax or whatever. It looks... unfinished as in incomplete, or maybe like some guy with a beard from Tennessee made it, not a respectable British gent.

You've gone this far, you owe it paint 8)

I think the gold TOM isn't the worst look, deriving more ugliness from being a TOM than being gold (seeing TOMs on guitars reminds me of going to a hot rod show and realizing everything, regardless of make, has a Chevy engine). Go gold stock bridge!!! Yeah. I need to settle down a bit.

It will buff up more but that is the idea of that finish, its kind of open grain. To be honest adding colour will bump the cost up considerably. It was always intended as a project on a budget and i cant afford it.. this time.

So... i got bored with the natural finish already. On Fenders it seems incomplete to me. I managed to pick up a red tort sp so i'm thinking of the black body red tort combo like my Jagmaster.
Started priming, i'm using a primer/filler that will hopefully get me decent results.

haha, cool.

I reckon that's somehow look well with the gold tom too. It'll still look sort of DIYish, but with the black and tort the colours'll be rich enough that'd it'll look good, like.
