At this stage, knowing it will annoy Rob has pretty much sealed that I'm going to lock it.

Old thread is old... but I'd love it if some of you guys who were using "washers" to lock down your vibratos could post some pictures... they'd be worth a thousand words... :)

don't think it matters when it's pertinent to something people often want to know about. dragging up months old ebay auctions with one line posts is different, some folks get mighty shirty about that sort of thing.

My apologies - I'm not trying to stir up controversy.

I look at it this way - if some people would rather leave their dynamic vibratos unlocked, or feel that's the best way to leave them, they can do so, and they can (and have) present their points / arguments / case. If others feel blocking or locking it down is the better option, then they can do likewise. Sia il lettore a decidere.:)

I've read some good points about the value of leaving it alone, seen good illustrations about methods of blocking it with wood, and regarding the merits using different spring placements on the posts, but the description of the "washers" technique is still a bit hazy to me, and I'm just wondering if anyone can explain - or better yet - illustrate it a bit better.

Again, I'm not trying to cause any controversy here; just trying to consider all possible options for myself. 8)

Ha! That was possibly the first thread I'd posted in. I like threads like this one resurfacing, because it's an issue/idea that concerns many people, especially first time Mustang owners. It's better to have this thread come back than for each new owner to start a brand new one whenever they have a problem, yeah?

My stang I got from portugalwillie has a sort of Gibson style hardtail built onto the tailpiece. It's about as "locked down" as a Mustang could possibly be. I'll post some pictures of it when I finally get my camera back from my girlfriend.

Is there a way that we can make a sort of knowledge thread "Hall of Fame" for these sorts of questions that come up a lot? It'd have threads like this one, setups on the Jag bridge, refinishing tips, etc. Threads like the Marshall Amplifiers FAQ. Many threads are just as worthy of a sticky, but that'd no doubt crowd the forums quite a bit.
