Great vid, Hurb. Pretty interesting how you hold the string tight as you wind it in. I usually place it in the nut, and hold my thumb over the top of the hole to stop it flying out, with a finger over the string at the nut as I wind it tight. I think I'll have a crack at how you do it there next time I restring, looks quite easier/more comfortable. P'raps make a new topic and sticky it in the guitar resources?
Edit: aha, I see what you did there ;]

i wanted to reply earlier, then i deleted my whole post, then i sighed, then i sighed again but louder. i know everyone has to learn, some are a bit quicker than others though. lol
fuuuck it also makes me feel really awkward about having to teach someone to play guitar (which also includes guitar maintenance), I DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE OR SYMPATHY FOR NOOBS !!!!! i really don't, i just wanna be an asshole

I didn't get it wrong, I just cut one of the wires 1 tuner short, and had a hell of a time getting it in, but after that it was annoying, but no problems.

I don't know if this was mentioned previously (I didn't see it, anyway) but stringing Klusons (or indeed anything) is a hell of a lot easier, and and in your case probably a hell of a lot less 'stressful', with a string winder. They're only about 15 quid or something; if you're already using one and still having problems, then you epically fail at life.
This will no doubt spawn a "SHTU THE FUCK UP JAIMIEBE , STRING WINDERS ARE FOR _____________" from the hardcore element.

I've never used one, or even know what they do to be honest. but because I have never had problems I haven't investigated.

they're quite handy if you've never strung a guitar before, but hardly worth the price or hassle of getting one otherwise, unless you REALLY hate stringing up manually.

I've got one somewhere but I can never find it when I want to restring.
It's useful on me classical guitar where one turn of the peg requires like 5 turns of the machine head.

I find them useful as they're a bit less 'jerky' when it comes to winding compared to your hand, and of course they speed things up for emergency changes. My one also includes a cutter, which is handy as i can never find my wire cutters and people get annoyed when you use their scissors.

TOP TIP:
When you can't find wire cutters: Nail Clippers.
Seriously.
