Fair enough, I'm out of here. It just struck me as ironic you would tell people to "stop whining"
It isn't ironic, because there are like how many Fender threads, about the same old Fenders all the time. When somebody posts HEY NEW FENDER PRODUCTS, and they're basically all the exact same shit that was out last year, who cares...
It's a little different, but whatever.

Sound and feel are all a matter of preference, but I gigged once or twice with the Dano baritone (bass VI) I used to have, and wouldn't think twice about gigging with my gf's Convertible. Some old silvertones can be kinda dodgy depending on what model you've got but the reissues have all felt well worth their salt.
Yeah, Proggys seemed great but i'm not comfortable with the build, i dunno, i'd just need to build a lot of trust up with one before roading it. The price is also an issue. They are quirky but i'd be more inclined to gamble on something like this which is in a similar vein as far as i can see, lets face it, everyone likes the shape- if it looked like a PRS it would never have got posted up. I prefer P90s to lipsticks anyway..

Seriously more than ten fucking years ago.
I've played the two Classic Player Strats and the Telecaster and they're all superb.
and fucking boring.
It's like going to a local club and seeing someone sing a pop standard really, really well. You can appreciate it for what it is, even be floored by the presentation. But, ultimately, it's just another rehash of a standard. I love standards, but there needs to be innovation as well.
Danelectro innovated. Duel truss rods? They did it first. Class A/B amps? They did it first. Shielding? First. Neck micro-tilt and 12-string electrics? First.
By any measure, they are one of the most important guitar companies to have existed.

Re-issuning guitars from the sixties is hardly innovative.
What have the done recently? The onboards effects on the Innuendo? They were great.
I'm not defending Fender here, but, y'know, lets not pretend that Dano are pushing the boundaries here.

so you're saying you'd rather spend Danelectro money on a Jagmaster with P90s, mainly because you personally prefer the sound/construction. And there's not a problem with that, but the key word there is prefer. Different strokes for different folks and all. Danos have their sound and have been a staple of modern music for as long and just as well as Fender/Gibson/Rickenbacker/Gretsch etc.

I didn't say they were innovate now, also re-issuing a guitar style not seen in 40 years if people want it, is cool. Aren't you dweebs always complaining Fender doesn't make that wang looking Starcaster, or whatever bullshit you want from Fender.
Also Danelectro effects which are new and tons of people use are part of my current setup. I can't say there is anything made by Fender that I regularly play. I have a Jazzmaster and I'm just waiting to sell it when the economy gets better, cause I never play it.

I'd rather spend HALF the Dano money and, yes that design is more appealing. Its a Jazzy without the bullshit and one of my favourate pickups. Strat trem= boring? It works. That Dano trem looks good for nothing only vanity (i may be wrong). Crap headstock? Yes, that is a shame.
Look at the potential nick, some gaffer tape on the headstock and Sonic Yoof stickers on the body and your away...
Srsly though, them Duncan designed Lipsticks on my Jackson Surfcaster were awesome, if the Danos are near as good that would swing things in its favour a bit.
Mike wrote:I love Danelectro pedals - they have winners at all sorts of price points.
They do.
I currently own a French Toast Fuzz, Fabtone Overdrive, Fab Series Distortion and Overdrive.
I even have a Tuna-melt tremolo, eventhough I think tremolo pedals are ballz, but it was $10!

I didn't say that guitar wasn't worth its money or that a Dano is a better guitar. You're just comparing apples to oranges. Terms like better and worse are only relative if you're comparing things in the same class. Also "appealing" is another thing all in the eye of the beholder. That guitar might be perfect for you, but not for anyone who doesn't like the jazzmaster shape or P90s.
Out of curiousity though, how much is that Jazzcat? It'd have to be about $150 USD to be the equivalent of half of a new dano over here. Most new models sell for $299 when they first come out.

I dont remember saying better or worse lol, these two guitars are about the same league to me, all i am pointing out is i would be more inclined to spend less on the Jazzcat for reasons explained. They are about £130 which would make it over half, but you will get the Dano cheaper over there anyway. I'm talking myself into buying one of these at this rate and i dont need one.
Mike wrote:I compared it with a well loved boutique Tremolo (Catalinbread Semaphore) recently and it held it's own. It's a great Trem pedal.
The French Toast is a Foxx Tone Machine clone which is awesome when you think how much it costs.
Yeah that's cause Steve Ridinger who invented the Foxx Tone is the President or was the President of Evets corporation(Danelectro).
I wish they would do more fuzzes, there are a whole host of cheap affordable fuzz pedals they could do.
They have a new one in the cool cat series, I don't know what it's based on. But it sounds like an old guy TDP fuzz, from the clips I heard.

Just to join in the pile-on Fran, Dano's are fucking magic: I've had three (just sold that one of Prog's, in fact) and I love them to bits; think of them as a 335 with a bolt on neck and better pickups that you wouldn't be heartbroken or bankrupt if you dinged and you're getting there. Pretty adaptable guitar too - plenty of tonez in those two girly pickups, and the both pickups at once position is a bionic, twice as loud as everything else setting; it's like having a boost built in. I would not be without a Dano baritone.
And the clincher is, you'll get brand new ones week in, week out on eBay for £130. I'd offer a Victor Kiam style guarantee, if I wasn't so fucking skint.
Not you as well Tim...
If i can get one cheap as chips i'll give it a whirl, i feel like this is a challenge now, see if it withstands being thrown across the stage like my black MM did lol.
i wanted a DC59 reissue as my first guitar, but by that time they'd stopped making them again (2002/03-ish?). i'm glad they're in the shops once more, they have a certain charm about them i've always liked.
my 1448 doesn't get much use due to the lack of bridge pickup, but when i'm doing the next round of band recordings i'll definitely be using it a fair bit.
