Waiting for the Winter wrote: Ah, is that Neil? He's recorded drums for my band before. Seems to know his stuff and I've liked a lot of the recordings that have came out of there.

I'll have a think and try and come up with a few names for you. You can pick and choose when you want to approach them, obviously :)
No idea to be honest was just some youngun.

thanks again for the support.

OK that obviously went down a treat, but please check out this 3.30 seconds pop song and tell me if it's pap or not.

We actually wrote down a sequence of riffs and everything :!:

really like it Hurb, nice and heavy. Are you thinking of having a singer or just instrumentals?

Cheers mate. we do need a singer I found one on gumtree that sent me a video of her singing a my chemical romance song (I googled the lyrics) and she could sing and stuff but it just wasnt right.

I am just about to post this on gumtree. what do we think, do I sound like a cunt?
We are a two piece based in county Durham and Sunderland. We practice in Sunderland. Drummer is female, guitarist is male. We are interested in making melodic noisy riff based head nodding music. You should be able to get to the practice space once a week.
You should have at least heard of, and hopefully enjoy bands like
The Coughs, Arab on Radar, Athletic Automation, Mikaela's Fiend, Shellac, Bikini Kill, Daniel Johnston, Erase Errata, Future of the Left, Pavement, Pre, Lightning Bolt, Sonic Youth, Bert Jansch, HEALTH, Melt-Banana, Comanechi , Joy Division, Future Of The Left, Weezer, Yo La Tengo, Grinderman, My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr, Gangstar, Big L, Biggie Smalls, Boards Of Canada, Portishead, Mclusky, Rapeman, Edan, DANGERDOOM, Massive Attack, Radiohead, AphexTwin, Joy Division, King Crimson, A Tribe Called Quest, Babes in Toyland, De La Soul, Lords of the Underground, Souls of Mischief, The Smiths, The Pixies, The Prodigy, Black Pus, Mindflayer, Old Dirty Bastard, Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, DNA, Landed, Kit, Thurston Moore, The Fall, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, Sightings, Big Black, AIDS Wolf.

As a bonus if you play or at least own some sort of keyboard/synth/organ/sampler etc etc blah blah it would be awesome. we don't need another guitarist or a bass player though.
We will need to hear you in some way before we meet. mp3's etc are a good start. we have mp3's of our stuff to trade.
We would like to gig in the future but we doubt we will ever get on radio 1 though.

Hope to hear from people without crack habit.

sounds perfectly fair and up front if you ask me, I used to put worse ads up in the past.

Organ player would be cool, some hammond/farfisa style action would be cool

Good to see you finally doing this Hurb. Had a quick listen, some good stuff, i like the contrast between soft melodies and teh br00talz.
You using the Jag? Nothing is quite as sick as Single Coil abuse 8)

cheers mate. It's the black jazzmaster, couldn't really use a jaguar in this situation. the switches would get smashed off in seconds I thrash about that much :) the longer neck helps with the low C too. cheers for the listen franster.

Haven't posted in here for a bit. No reply from my add for a singer and we missed a few practices because of weather and illness but last week we got back into it. recorded this

having to use youtube to upload as everything else just crashes.

Drummer is bringing along a friend who plays keyboards or summit next week. I'm a bit excited but also dubious. as they are mates how do I broach the subject if they are shit/or a bit of a nob.....

just say you don't think it suits the music and stick to your guns if that's the case. might be good though, you never know.

Just had a look at your ad for a singer, you might be better off if you cut your list of influences down a bit - it might be a bit intimidating to anyone who is not familiar with the majority of them. At the end of the day if they don't like exactly the same bands as you they may still be suitable for your band, To increase the amount of responses how about only stating the more well known bands while making sure they're representative of the sound you want to go for? Once you have received reponses then you can 'vet' them to see if it's worth getting them into the studio. A load of responses from a load of people that may or may not be suitable is better than no responses at all. Also, having used Gumtree before to find band members, it's better if you re-post your ad every couple of days to increase your chances of it being seen.

Just having a listen to Eggs Hurb and it's a cracker - reminds me a lot of Deerhoof. Jolly well done. And love the (not) bass sounds still.

Cheers mate ! glad you liking it.

And thanks jonnyseven sounds like good advice. I have a feeling this friend is a singer too so we will see what happens.

If it all goes wrong stewart, I will just quit , I couldnt possibly deal with the conflict.

Just fake an asthma until the new person goes; it's how I avoid all conflict.
